Overview
This role provides operational and people leadership for a high-volume Sterile Processing Department supporting multiple surgical and procedural service lines. The Sterile Processing Manager partners with departmental and clinical leaders to ensure compliance, efficiency, and high-quality instrument reprocessing that supports safe patient care across inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory settings. This position is ideal for an experienced sterile processing leader who thrives in a fast-paced evening operation and values continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day leadership for evening sterile processing operations, ensuring workflow efficiency and regulatory compliance
• Support staffing, scheduling, onboarding, and ongoing competency validation
• Maintain quality assurance programs related to sterilization, decontamination, and infection prevention
• Collaborate with surgical services and clinical departments to meet case volume and turnaround demands
• Assist with performance management, staff development, and succession planning
• Monitor equipment, instrumentation, and resource needs; recommend improvements as appropriate
• Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and service excellence
Required
• Two-year Surgical Technology program or CRCST/CSPDT certification
• Active CSPDT or IAHCSMM/HSPA certification
• Minimum of 3 years of sterile processing experience
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience
• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, infection control, and surgical instrumentation
• Proficiency with computer-based systems and departmental workflow tools
Preferred
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in a high-volume hospital or surgery center environment
• Familiarity with multi-service line support (OR, Endoscopy, CVOR, L&D, clinics)
