About Voces de la Frontera
Voces de la Frontera is a national leader in the movement for immigrant and worker rights and the largest grassroots Latinx membership organization in Wisconsin. Led by low-wage immigrant workers and students, Voces works to protect and expand civil rights and workers’ rights through leadership development, community organizing, and collective empowerment. Voces de la Frontera has chapters in Milwaukee, Racine, Madison, Green Bay/Fox Cities, Sheboygan, Manitowoc, Waukesha, Walworth County, Kenosha, and West Bend. Voces' student arm is called Youth Empowered in the Struggle.
Position Overview
The Statewide New Sanctuary Movement Organizer will strengthen relationships with faith communities and mobilize congregations to support Voces’ immigrant justice campaigns and direct services. This role works closely with Voces members, faith leaders, and allied congregations to build leadership, increase participation, and respond to community needs.
Spanish Faith-Based Organizer
Key Responsibilities
Build a strong base of Voces leaders and liaisons within Spanish-speaking congregations in Milwaukee.
Recruit, organize, and develop Voces members to serve as liaisons between Voces and their congregations, sharing information about campaigns such as May Day through flyering, pulpit announcements (when possible), committee meetings, and volunteer recruitment.
Establish a goal of developing 10 Spanish-speaking congregations with strong leadership in the first year.
Organize regular orientations for new liaisons on Voces and their roles.
Convene liaison meetings twice per year to share best practices, address challenges, and plan upcoming actions.
Serve as a connection between families seeking assistance through congregations and Voces services.
Maintain and update liaison tracking systems on a weekly basis.
Provide monthly written reports to the Voces C3 Board.
Coordinate with the English faith-based organizer as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
English Faith-Based Organizer
Key Responsibilities
Organize and mobilize faith communities in Milwaukee to support Voces’ social justice campaigns.
Maintain and strengthen relationships with congregations formally pledged to Voces/NSM and recruit new congregations to join.
Maintain a centralized directory of faith-based contacts made by Voces organizers statewide.
Present talks or coordinate speakers at congregations and events to educate non-immigrant communities.
Mobilize faith communities around Voces’ campaigns and actions.
Identify and coordinate volunteers to support direct services such as court accompaniment through the Caminos program.
Support volunteers organizing vigils at ICE facilities and work with the communications team to elevate these actions strategically.
Attend faith community meetings as needed.
Provide monthly written reports to the Voces C3 Board.
Coordinate with the Spanish faith-based organizer as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Strong commitment to faith-based social justice and immigrant rights
Ability and willingness to work within diverse faith communities
Bilingual English/Spanish required
Prior organizing experience preferred
Strong computer and basic administrative skills
Valid driver’s license
Availability to work some evenings and weekends
Salary: $23 per hour
