We’re looking for a Staff Web Engineer to help build and scale a modern, high-performance web platform that powers our global marketing experience. This role sits at the intersection of engineering excellence, product thinking, and business impact.

As a Staff Web Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in shaping technical direction, establishing best practices, and partnering closely with Web Production, Design, Growth, International teams, and Product teams. You’ll help ensure our website is not just functional, but fast, scalable, secure, and built to support rapid iteration and global growth.

This is a highly visible role with both hands-on technical ownership and technical leadership responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Architect and evolve a scalable web platform that enables fast execution, reliable releases, and high-quality user experiences

• Lead development of complex, high-impact web initiatives including product launches, core page rebuilds, and experimentation frameworks

• Establish and maintain technical standards, patterns, and best practices for frontend architecture, performance, accessibility, and SEO

• Partner closely with Growth teams to enable CRO, experimentation, analytics, and personalization

• Collaborate with content teams to support scalable content workflows (e.g., Sanity-based CMS, localization pipelines, AI-assisted content)

• Proactively identify and address technical debt, reliability risks, and performance bottlenecks

• Serve as a technical mentor to other web engineers, raising the overall quality and velocity of the team

• Drive alignment across Engineering, Design, Product, and Marketing to ensure solutions balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability

• Support security, compliance, and privacy requirements across the web stack

QUALIFICATIONS

• 8-10+ years of experience building and maintaining modern web applications, with significant experience in frontend or full-stack web engineering

• Proven experience operating at a Staff or Senior+ level, owning architecture and influencing across teams

• Deep expertise in modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js or similar)

• Deep understanding of web performance and edge infrastructure, including experience with caching, security, traffic management, and global delivery at scale

• Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, SEO, and best practices for large-scale sites

• Experience working with headless CMS platforms (Sanity, Contentstack, Storyblok, or other CMS)

• Working knowledge of Google Tag Manager and Google event setup.

• Familiarity with experimentation, analytics, and CRO tooling

• Ability to translate business and marketing requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Strong communication skills — able to explain complex technical topics to non-technical partners

• Comfort operating in fast-moving environments with multiple stakeholders and priorities

• Prior experience building platform foundations that other engineers and teams build upon

The annual salary hiring range for this position is $179,000 - $225,000 USD.

Compensation is based on factors unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, qualification, education, experience, and location. At Gong, we have a location-based compensation structure, which means there may be a different range for candidates in other locations. The total compensation package for this position, in addition to base compensation, may include incentive compensation, bonus, equity, and benefits. Some of our sales compensation programs also offer the potential to achieve above targeted earnings for those who exceed their sales targets.
