EOI Space is developing and deploying a network of satellites in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) to provide ultra-high-resolution Earth imagery.  We aim to deliver timely and actionable data for commercial and defense applications.

EOI Space is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to serve as the Mission Planning software subject matter expert to support development of this critical component in our Ground System. 

What you will do:  

Develop and integrate models for spacecraft dynamics, imaging system capabilities, and business logic to facilitate planning and scheduling of spacecraft activities 

Collaborate with Ground and Space System engineers, Attitude Determination and Control engineers, and other Ground System software engineers 

Operate in a lean start-up environment, maintaining a laser focus on the balance between what we need today and the things we are excited to add and enhance tomorrow 

Own the path to production and fully participate in our DevOps culture, taking responsibility for deployment, monitoring, and operational excellence of our mission planning systems 

Responsibilities:  

Develop and evolve the mission planning workflow framework 

Create models to implement business model requirements such as SLAs, contract-specified areas of interest, and customer prioritization 

Integrate and test various spacecraft capability models 

Integrate and test external models (COLA, space weather) 

Build high quality code in a team setting, applying good development practices in a fast-paced greenfield environment 

Required Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field 

Hands-on experience with implementation of a dynamic, constraint-based mission planning system for high-revisit rate LEO spacecraft – bonus points for constellation management experience 

High competency with both scripted and compiled/type-checked languages (e.g. Python, C++) 

8 - 12 years professional experience in software engineering – cloud-native experience a major plus 

Relevant experience will include revision control in Git, CI/CD environments, containerized development 

Compensation:  

The salary range for this role is $175,000 - $235,000 per year, depending on previous experience. Pay ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.  

Work Location:  

This is an on-site role at EOI Space headquarters in Louisville, CO.
