Staff Software Engineer - InPost Pay

We are a team that builds the best FMCG e-commerce in Poland. We already have over 300,000 products in our offer, we work with over 300 sellers, and our mobile application has already been downloaded by almost 1.5 million users in Poland. Due to the fact that our product consists of many elements that must work together efficiently and be managed effectively, we are looking for experienced consumer-focused (Web / Mobile App products) engineering leaders to join us in that journey - heavily influence our future platform build, improve processes and help us deliver best customer experience in the market across all types of devices.  

Your scope of work will cover 3 areas. 

I. Microservices Architecture:  

• Drive the design and implementation of microservices architecture. 
• Define best practices, standards, and guidelines for microservices development, deployment, and monitoring.  
• Collaborate with software development teams to design and build scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant microservices.  
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to development teams in adopting best patterns and practices.  

II. Technical Leadership:  

• Act as a subject matter expert on e-commerce platform architecture and related technologies.  
• Lead and participate in architectural reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions to ensure high-quality deliverables.  
• Shape a vision for the technical development of the entire domain (an area usually consisting of several to a dozen teams) 
• Collaborate with representatives from a dozen domains within the organization to jointly develop the technical development vision. 
• Propose and consistently implement the agreed solutions 
•  Engage actively in both system design and hands-on tasks, including coding and incident management. 
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to cloud computing, microservice architecture, and DevOps.  
• Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams, including developers and infrastructure engineers.  

III. Collaboration and Communication:  

• Collaborate effectively with stakeholders, including business units, Product Owners and Project Managers, to align technical solutions with business requirements.  
• Communicate complex technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.  
• Work closely with global teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.  

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering and product delivery experience, with at least 3+ years as a Senior Individual Contributor position (Senior Engineer, Staff Engineer, Tech Lead, Architect or similar).   
• Strong background in algorithms and high-performance distributed systems  
• Hands-on experience with multiple tech stacks (NodeJS, Java, Mobile), with expertise in at least one of them. 
• Seasoned experience in multiple architectures, from Monoliths to Microservices to Serverless.  
• Experience in cloud infrastructure technologies (especially GCP and AWS) and past experiences with cloud migration.  
• Experience in the e-commerce domain.  
• Very good command of English (spoken and written).  
• Proficiency in leveraging AI tools and large language models (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) to enhance productivity, accelerate development, and solve complex problems. 
• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs and apply them responsibly within professional workflows.

Openness to working in a hybrid model from our Kraków or Warsaw office once a week is required
