Grapevine is Gather’s newest product, which provides rich context for AI agents to navigate all the tools used for work (think: Slack, Notion, GitHub, etc.) and structure the knowledge for agents. This is the holy grail opportunity for the AI ecosystem, and we believe we have unique insight to pull it off.

Role overview:

As a Staff Fullstack Engineer on Grapevine, you'll be working on building out core functionality across our ingestion stack (including new sources and our privacy/governance engine) and core product surfaces (including our UI, MCP, and Slack interfaces). We have an ambitious roadmap of features as well as a high bar for data security and scalability. You should be an intrinsically motivated systems thinker who can quickly move from concept to working prototype, building both frontend and backend components.

Where you will make an impact:

• Design and implement integrations to new external platforms, expanding the scope of the knowledge Grapevine comprehends

• Build fundamental systems like our Privacy/Governance engine, to ensure no context is inadvertently leaked between teams or employees

• Craft delightful product experiences atop the superpower of a well-informed knowledge system

• Build prototypes that demonstrate the potential of company-specific AI, from internal chatbots to workflow automation tools

• Mentor and inspire other engineers to think creatively about AI applications

What you bring:

• Strong backend development skills with experience going from problem to deployment

• Proficiency in modern web technologies (Vite, TypeScript, Python) and backend development

• Proficiency with AI native coding tools (i.e, Claude Code, Cursor, etc.)

• Experience building AI systems (MCPs, Agents, misc LLM provider APIs, etc.)

• Intellectual curiosity that drives you to explore new approaches and stay current with emerging technologies

• Experience building internal tools for cross-functional organizations

• Excitement about working on a small team where your contributions have an outsized impact

• Strong debugging and investigation skills; you’re comfortable digging into an ambiguous problem statement and coming up with solutions

• A keen intuition for well-designed software and well-written code

• Intrinsic motivation and the drive to own and solve difficult problems without guidance

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with technical leadership abilities

• An open and growth mindset when giving and receiving feedback

• You are resourceful, have a bias towards action, and love moving fast

• A healthy tolerance for the chaotic balance between Doing Things Right and iterating and shipping quickly

US Salary Range

At Gather, compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $188,700 - $238,000 annually and we encourage candidates outside of this salary range to apply.

Base pay is one part of the total package provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role will be eligible for a stock reward reflective of an early-stage startup.
