Position Summary
The Washington Healthcare Staffing Network (WHSN) is an exclusive staffing program owned by 23 public hospitals in rural communities throughout the state and The Rural Collaborative. WHSN’s mission is to help our partner hospitals efficiently access and manage high-quality clinical staffing through collaboration, innovation, and transparency.
We are now seeking a Full-time Credentialing Specialist to join our fantastic team! This position offers 40 hours per week, M-F, and is fully remote. Candidates must be located in the state of WA.

The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end credentialing process for all healthcare travelers placed through WHSN across its network of 20+ rural hospitals. This role ensures that all clinician credentials are accurate, current, and fully compliant with both WHSN standards and individual facility requirements prior to assignment start dates.
This position plays a critical role in supporting safe, compliant staffing operations while delivering exceptional service to both internal teams and external partners. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, people-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associates Degree preferred
Certification in Human Resources or Healthcare Staffing (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP, CSP, CHP ) or healthcare recruitment (e.g., CHCR) preferred
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a professional administrative role requiring critical thinking, problem-solving, multitasking and customer service skills
Credentialing, healthcare or staffing experience strongly preferred
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Commitment to the mission of supporting rural hospitals through high-quality staffing solutions
Familiarity with clinical roles
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Excellent time management skills with ability to anticipate tasks and prioritize assignments.
Ability to independently utilize tools, networks, and resources to gather information, solve challenges, and optimize processes.
Ability to optimize the use of software systems for maximum efficiency
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Typing speed of at least 40wpm with 98% accuracy
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, in a professional, thoughtful, customer-service-oriented manner
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team.
Ability to effectively teach others with various learning styles
Promote/deliver excellent customer service to both internal and external customers (hospitals, staffing agencies)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Credentialing:
Manage the full credentialing lifecycle for healthcare travelers across multiple facilities
Review, verify, and track all required credentialing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Ensure all clinician files meet facility-specific requirements and timelines
Serve as a liaison between staffing agencies, clinicians, and hospital partners to resolve credentialing issues
Proactively identify and troubleshoot missing or incomplete documentation
Maintain accurate and organized digital credentialing records
Monitor expiration dates and ensure timely updates of licenses, certifications, and other required documents
Communicate clearly and consistently with internal teams and external partners regarding credentialing status
Vendor Management System (VMS) Utilization
Serve as a super user of the Vendor Management System (VMS), utilizing the platform to track required credentials, monitor expiring credentials, and ensure full compliance 100% of the time.
Provide guidance and training to agency partners on effective use of the VMS.
Continuous Improvement
Stay current with industry trends, changing legal requirements, competitor practices, and evolving workforce dynamics
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance staffing skills and knowledge
Staffing Support
May provide back up support to other areas within WHSN
Other duties as assigned
Licensing & Special Requirements:
Must have reliable transportation and the ability to attend in-person meetings at a variety of locations throughout the state. If driving a personal vehicle, the employee must have a valid driver's license and automobile coverage greater than 100/300/100.
Working Conditions
Most work is performed in a distraction-free, remote home-office setting. Computer and monitors are provided.
Some travel (less than 5%) to attend meetings and occasional overnight stay may be required.
May require occasional evening hours.
Physical Requirements
Requires standing or sitting at a computer workstation for long periods of time (8+ hours/day).
Requires hand manipulative skills for word processing and writing (8+ hours/day).
Must be able to read fine print (8+ hours/day).
Must be able to verbally communicate with WHSN users (2+ hours/day)
