Quick Summary

We're looking for a skilled Staff App Engineer in Hamburg, Germany with a strong technical background and experience with app development. The ideal candidate will have expertise in mobile app development, preferably in a fast-paced tech environment. We're seeking someone with a passion for innovation and a collaborative mindset.

Job Description

ABOUT YOU is one of Europe’s fastest growing e-commerce companies. Based in Hamburg and Berlin, we operate at the intersection of fashion and technology. Our mission is to rethink online shopping and make it personal and seamless. This takes more than good ideas. It takes people who take initiative and challenge the status quo. We believe in flat hierarchies, direct communication, and pragmatic decisions. No long approval chains. Just ownership, trust, and clear responsibility. We work hard, but we also believe in enjoying the ride together - over team lunches, afterwork drinks, company events, or a quick coffee in between meetings. If this sounds like you, ABOUT YOU could be the right place to bring in your perspective.

• Build and maintain our high-quality mobile application for iOS and Android using Flutter
• Contribute to architectural decisions and set coding standards for the team
• Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Testers, and other teams (Backend and Web) in a cross-stack environment
• Introduce new technologies, tools, or processes that improve developer productivity and product quality
• Debug performance and reliability issues across the stack

• You have 4+ years of programming experience, including at least a year of app development. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical degree is a plus, but we prioritize skill
• You have expert-level knowledge of Dart and Flutter. You're experienced with CI/CD (e.g., fastlane, GitHub Actions) and unit and golden tests. You also have a strong understanding of performance optimization and profiling
• You have strong ownership, self-drive, and leadership skills. You are a team player with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Nice to have

• Mobile native experience (iOS and/or Android) or mobile automated testing
• Experience with gRPC, Firebase, and monitoring tools like Sentry or DataDog
• Figma knowledge and open-source experience

A Place Where You Can Be You

We take it as our responsibility to create an environment where everyone feels welcome, exactly as they are.

Different backgrounds and perspectives make us stronger and shape our culture in ways that matter.

What we stand for internally, we stand for as a brand: acceptance, inclusion, and a fairer approach to fashion.
