Staff Accountant - US GAAP (Guadalajara, MX)

The Staff Accountant will support the accounting function with a strong focus on U.S. GAAP compliance and SOX internal controls. This role is hands-on and detail-oriented, contributing to accurate financial reporting, month-end close, and ongoing control activities in a U.S.-based environment.

📍 Location: Providencia, Guadalajara, Mexico (3 days per week in the office)
🗣️ Language: Bilingual, English and Spanish
💼 Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work and currently reside in Mexico

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and variance analysis
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports
• Ensure compliance with SOX controls, including documentation, testing, and remediation support
• Participate in internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests
• Review transactions to ensure accuracy, proper classification, and adherence to accounting policies
• Support AP and AR activities as needed, including accruals and reviews
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and timely reporting
• Identify process improvement opportunities related to accounting and internal controls

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5-8 years of accounting experience, preferably in a U.S.-based or multinational environment
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Hands-on experience with SOX compliance and internal controls
• Experience with month-end close and general ledger accounting
• Proficiency in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar preferred)
• Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal)
• Exposure to audits (internal or external)
