THE JOB
Position Summary 
The Staff Accountant – General Ledger supports the Coface Finance team by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This position is dedicated exclusively to General Ledger (GL) accounting and month‑end close support. Responsibilities include journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and preparation of audit-ready documentation. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a control-focused environment. 
Key Responsibilities 
• Prepare and post monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation. 
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including bank, intercompany, accruals, prepaids, reserves, and suspense accounts. 
• Support the month-end close process by completing assigned tasks on schedule and investigating variances. 
• Prepare intercompany reconciliations, settlements, confirmations, and ensure alignment with corporate policy. 
• Analyze GL accounts for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness; propose corrections when necessary. 
• Assist with preparation of financial reporting support packages, including trial balance (TB) reviews and fluctuation analysis. Group reporting – quarterly.
• Maintain well-documented, audit-ready workpapers compliant level 1 controls. 
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries. 
• Identify opportunities to streamline journal entry preparation, reconciliation processes, and close calendar activities. 
• Maintain and update desktop procedures and ensure compliance with process guidelines. 
 
Required Qualifications 
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required). 
• 0–3 years of GL or corporate accounting experience; insurance or financial services experience is a plus. 
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and standard accounting practices. 
• Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations). 
• Experience with ERP/GL systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
