Sr. Technical Lead/ Engineering Director (React/Typescript) - Permanent/Hybrid

Job Type: Direct Hire (on Independent Consultant arrangement)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (with once a month report to office)
Office Location: Makati, HV Dela Costa
Work Schedule: Morning Shift and Fixed Weekends Off (standard time is 9am to 6pm, Mon-Fri PH time)

Overview
Our client, a key player in IT Services and a distinguished engineering agency of the AI era, delivering exceptional software engineering services, is currently in need of Engineering Director to lead software projects and mentor high-performing engineering teams. In this role, you'll oversee and elevate the performance of multiple software development projects and engineering teams.

This role is ideal for a technically adept leader with a strong background in system design, hands-on software development, and coaching engineers toward excellence in a fast-paced, startup environment.

What you'll do:

• Project Oversight: Own the success of 5–10 client projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and meet quality standards.
• Reporting: Communicate project health and engineering performance to executive leadership, providing insights and recommendations.
• Technical Supervision: Guide the technical architecture of each project, making sure engineering teams are building the right solutions the right way.
• Team Management: Directly manage and support a team of 10–20 engineers, working on different client projects. Identify performance gaps, provide coaching, and promote growth.

Requirements:
What you bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Involved in hands-on technical coding/development
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
• 2+ years in engineering leadership roles, including direct people management
• Deep understanding of modern software engineering best practices and system architecture
• Familiar with setting up productive development environments and workflows
• Proven ability to architect modular, testable, scalable, and secure systems
• Proficiency and willing to do technical hands-on with Tech Stack React and React Native
• Familiarity with Python for backend development
• Comfort using Generative AI tools to boost engineering productivity
• Ability to mentor engineers and technical leads, set clear expectations, and foster accountability
• Strong client communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Startup Background: prior experience working in startup environments, understanding the pace and ambiguity involved

Good to have:

• Hands-on experience building features on top of LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI/ChatGPT)
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and modern CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to product and design thinking
