Role Overview

In Coupang Ads, we build one of the fastest growing advertising platforms based on Coupang’s e-commerce platform. Coupang is investing in building a world-class online marketing business where we run relevant ads and promotions across our website and mobile app.

Offsite Advertising is a product where we offer the opportunity to integrate advertising beyond Coupang’s website and apps, to Coupang’s affiliate partners and other popular advertising channels in South Korea and beyond, such as Google, Facebook, Naver, Coupang's affiliate partner network and various ad exchange networks.

This is an opportunity to be part of building up a new development organization with strong revenue potential inside a successful company. We’re building full-stack engineering teams to handle large scale advertising problems, including real-time behavioral targeting, auctioning and bidding systems and search-based advertising. In this role you will be responsible for innovating and building ad serving systems specific to offsite advertising on ad exchanges and publisher networks.

What You Will Do

· Design and implement scalable, high-performance workflow infrastructure using technologies such as Temporal and Netflix Conductor.

· Benchmark platform performance, collect and analyze system metrics, and publish performance reports.

· Ensure platform reliability and uptime, targeting high availability through robust monitoring and alerting systems.

· Estimate system capacity and provision clusters to support diverse customer workloads.

· Monitor production systems, respond to incidents, and proactively address root causes to improve operational excellence.

· Analyze and contribute to open-source platform components and codebases.

· Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure platform extensibility and support innovation.

Utilize SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, MySQL) for data storage and retrieval.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or a closely related field

• 8 years of experience in backend software development

• Proficiency in Java and the Spring Framework

• Experience working in cloud environments, particularly AWS

• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining highly available, distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications

· Strong communication skills for interfacing with technical teams, business stakeholders, and end users

· Familiarity with Agile development practices, including code reviews, testing, and CI/CD pipelines

· Proven ability to lead and collaborate in cross-functional, fast-paced environments

· Experience managing mission-critical services with high throughput and low latency

Pay & Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of living across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation. The base pay for this position ranges from $142,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $309,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
