Sr. Public Works Civil Construction Estimator

Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. is seeking an experienced Sr. Public Works Estimator to join our team in Santa Clara, CA. The Sr. Public Works Estimator's responsibilities include preparing accurate and competitive bids, reviewing project plans and specifications, conducting site visits, and collaborating with clients and suppliers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for construction projects, including labor, material, equipment, and overhead costs.

Analyze and compile estimate data that affects the cost of labor, materials, equipment requirements, location and other factors to ensure a high-quality and timely estimate.

Obtain and evaluate quotes from contractors/subcontractors and suppliers, and negotiate the best terms and prices.

Prepare and submit bid proposals and supporting documents to clients and follow up on the status and outcome of the bids.

Review contracts and change orders, ensuring compliance with project specifications and company policies.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and customer satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.

Minimum 10+ years of experience estimating construction projects, both Public and private works.

At least 7 years of experience bidding on and building civil public works projects as a prime bidder.

Experience with bidding Caltrans and other city and county agencies required.

Proficient in using estimation software, such as HCSS, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar.

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and regulations, especially related to concrete structures.

Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

OTHER:

General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, bending.

Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
