Sr Procurement/Purchasing Specialist

We are growing our Malaysia Regional Procurement team to support back‑end semiconductor manufacturing at Renesas. In this role, you will own procurement for a variety of critical material categories — including direct materials, secondary materials, and packaging materials. You will lead strategic sourcing, cost optimization, supplier development, and business continuity planning, ensuring robust and competitive supply chains that support Renesas’ manufacturing excellence and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing activities across direct materials, secondary materials, and packaging materials for Malaysia region factories.
• Drive cost-down initiatives through value engineering, cost analysis, benchmarking, and structured negotiation.
• Identify and qualify alternative suppliers/materials to improve cost competitiveness and reduce supply risk for Malaysia operations.
• Build and manage supplier relationships, including evaluating performance and supporting improvement actions across the Malaysia region factories.
• Support BCM activities by identifying single-source risks and developing dual/backup sourcing strategies for Malaysia operations.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Planning teams on material qualification and cross-functional improvement projects in Malaysia region factories.  

Must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Industrial Studies, or related field.
• 5–8 years of procurement experience, preferably in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Proven experience in sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess cost, supplier performance, and commercial terms.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

Good to have:

• Experience in back-end semiconductor operations.
• Knowledge of sourcing direct materials, secondary materials, and packaging.
• Familiarity with supplier development, business continuity management (BCM), risk assessment, and dual sourcing.
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
• Proficiency in Mandarin (both written and verbal) added advantages.
