Job Summary
The Senior Heavy-Duty Mechanic is responsible for advanced diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and overhaul of heavy-duty vehicles and diesel-powered equipment. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership in the shop, and the ability to mentor junior mechanics while ensuring work meets manufacturer and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform advanced diagnostics and complex repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical systems
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic issues efficiently
Lead and support junior mechanics, providing guidance and technical expertise
Ensure all repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations
Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance records
Communicate effectively with service advisors, supervisors, and customers when required
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Stay current with industry technology, tools, and service procedures
Required Qualifications
Certification in diesel engine repair
ASM (Automotive Service Management or Automotive Service Excellence – as applicable) certification
Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy-duty diagnostics and repair
Proven expertise in diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicle systems
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience at a Ford dealership
Prior Army or Navy mechanical experience
Strong leadership and mentoring skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Strong understanding of diesel and heavy-duty mechanical systems
