Job Summary: Provide professional-level on-site customer service and technical support, conduct operator and maintenance training, and deliver remote support via phone and email to customers worldwide.
Job Duties: Minimum job duties include the following:
· Apply advanced technical and professional expertise to independently analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex customer technical issues related to system design, equipment performance, and software functionality through telephone, email, and virtual support.
· Partner with the Director of Technical Solutions to evaluate, prioritize, and resolve escalated or non-routine technical challenges requiring in-depth knowledge of sensor functionality and industry security protocols.
· Plan and conduct on-site technical engagements, including system assessments, troubleshooting, commissioning, and operator and maintenance training, utilizing professional judgment to tailor solutions to customer-specific operating conditions.
· Conduct software and hardware testing, both in-house and at the SMI Test facility, applying engineering principles to evaluate system performance and recommend design or functional improvements.
· Perform professional technical reviews of drawings, specifications, and bills of materials, advising sales and internal stakeholders on technical accuracy, system compatibility, and application feasibility.
· Provide professional technical support for product demonstrations, pilot installations, and customer evaluations, applying specialized knowledge to ensure proper system implementation and performance.
· Serve as a professional instructor and subject matter expert for formal technical training programs delivered at factory locations, customer sites, and virtual platforms, both domestically and internationally.
· Analyze field data, service trends, and customer feedback to develop professional recommendations for product, process, and system improvements, and communicate findings to the Director of Technical Solutions.
· Provide professional guidance and technical consultation to members of the Technical Service team and cross-functional departments, supporting knowledge transfer and best practices.
· Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience: Minimum skills / experience includes the following:
· Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible technical experience in a related professional field preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
· Required professional knowledge of perimeter electronic security technologies, including microwave systems, fence-mounted detection sensors, active infrared, and LiDAR solutions.
· Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting technical schematics, utilizing electronic test and diagnostic equipment, and applying foundational computer networking principles.
· Working proficiency with professional software tools including Microsoft Word, Visio, Excel, CRM platforms, and comparable business and technical applications.
· Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility for access to secure domestic and international facilities, including possession of a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a clear criminal history.
Education: Bachelors or Electrical Engineering Technology degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Physical demands: Must be able to stand and walk outdoors for long periods of time to certify system installations or provide service, climb ladders at various heights, and lift up to 25 lbs. Extensive air (domestic and international) and vehicle travel, including occasional weekend work, is required.
