Job Specifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management or construction-related curriculum or equivalent experience.
Experience: 10+ years of construction-related project management/estimating experience required.
Objective: To seek and develop opportunities to deploy the Company’s assets. To produce meaningful estimates of project costs, provide management oversight of those projects from bid process through completion, and to promote a culture of success through peer/employee collaboration and recognition.
Job Environment: This position will require time being spent in the field during the construction season. The Estimator/Project Manager will interact on a day-to-day basis with administration, the management team, and the project workforce. This is a deadline-oriented role, where time requirements fluctuate according to the bid/project schedules. Some travel will be required as dictated by the project opportunities. The Estimator/Project Manager position is a full-time, year-round position.
Relationships/Management: The position will interact with all levels of personnel within the company including union and non-union employees, administration, other department managers and support personnel, and will interact with external sources such as engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and governmental entities.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership to ensure safe work practices at all times while promoting a strong culture of safety throughout the organization.
Ability to develop a complete and detailed estimate of project cost through a thorough review of project plans, specifications, job site conditions, historical data, and input from field operations.
Create opportunities for the Company to be successful through the development of industry relationships, and market insight.
Working knowledge of construction-related software to include estimating, scheduling, job cost, and takeoff applications.
Lead bid review and bid closing processes to ensure accuracy, and to evaluate project feasibility with overall Company backlog.
Stay abreast of trends and developments such as new equipment, materials, technology, and methods and procedures developing in the construction industry.
Analyze alternate construction means and methods to increase competitiveness of the bid.
Tabulate bid history by market to ensure competitiveness and maximize margin capture.
Lead the communication of estimate information to field operations at internal preconstruction meetings to ensure understanding of scope and critical means and methods of construction.
Manage and direct project teams by providing dynamic communication, coordination and follow-up to meet project goals and objectives, ensure understanding of project scope, and to ensure that project schedules and budgets are clearly defined and understood.
Ensure timeliness and accuracy of job reporting and controls such as; payroll, equipment utilization, materials, and completed quantities.
Identify and secure necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget, and schedule.
Maintain ongoing communication with client and provide adjustments as necessary to comply with client needs within contractual obligations.
Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, and engineers providing world class customer service and developing long-term partnerships with client base.
Ensure all work products are consistent with industry standards, done in accordance with good engineering practice, meet or exceed LCI quality standards, and compliant with all legal and environmental codes.
Responsible for completing projects within time and budget.
Promote positive employee relations and treat all employees with dignity and respect.
Open, honest and consistent communicator providing timely information for the good of the organization.

Wage range is $100,000 to $180,000/year. In compliance with MN Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary, based on experience, education, and other factors.
