Department Overview
The LACR Services Cybersecurity Department is responsible for the cybersecurity posture of MSI's Build, Own, Operate (BOO) Land Mobile Radio networks. In addition, Department members act as catalysts and enablers of Cybersecurity Services Sales throughout the region, and also assist in the implementation (and often, lead the implementations directly) of Cybersecurity services sold.
Job Description
The LACR Sr. Engineer Cybersecurity Solutions position reports to the LACR Service Business Manager and is responsible for implementing the NIST Cybersecurity Framework in LACR, including the 5 principal tenets of the framework: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover. This position covers all of Latin America and the Caribbean, and requires interaction with Customers, Sales, PreSales, SI Engineers, CSMs and Services Engineers in addition to interaction with the teams in the Motorola Solutions Products & Services Cybersecurity Group.
The position focuses its efforts and results first on the Build Own Operate LMR networks (BOOs), secondly on the Premier Contracts.
Detailed responsibilities of the role include:
• Be an expert in the available cybersecurity programs and services that MSI offers, such as cybersecurity risk assessments, SUS, R-SUS, Cyber Assurance Program, Managed Detection & Response and others. Prompting and enabling the services organization, presales and sales personnel to position and sell cybersecurity professional services in LACR.
• Create a process for capturing and updating the “Installed Equipment” in LACR which includes the principal network element software releases and configurations, network diagrams, firewall configurations, and other pertinent data points related to cybersecurity.
• Be aware of and connected to the various official channels that release information regarding cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
• Discern when a cybersecurity vulnerability requires action on the part of the field teams to prevent the vulnerability from being exploited by threat actors.
• Coordinate and control the actions required of field teams, tracking them to completion and reporting their progress to senior management.
• Ensure that any cybersecurity program sold in LACR is implemented correctly by following up on open items, tracking that field engineers are appropriately trained and certified, and coordinating with experts in the Cybersecurity Professional Services Teams to deploy their expertise in the field.
• Function as an engineering expert on LMR and PCR networks, as pertains to cybersecurity risks, mitigation strategies and controls.
• Create & Maintain a Cybersecurity Risk Register for LACR.
• Create & Maintain a LACR Cybersecurity Batchat page. Drive for the page to have relevant content and drive awareness of the information throughout LACR and the International Teams.
• Perform Cyber Health Checks, Risk Assessments, CJIS Compliance Assessments, Incident Response Plan Creation, and Table Top Exercises independently of the US-based Cyber Professional Services Team.
• Fully represent LACR in the Cybersecurity Threat Management Process.
• Develop fluid professional relationships with the Cybersecurity professionals inside MSI, so that LACR’s needs will be quickly attended to, and any necessary escalations for support are effective and efficient.
Basic Requirements
Basic Requirements of the position:
• At least 1 year in Job Profile LACR 85449311PSE - Engineer II Cybersecurity Solutions, or equivalent experience in the industry.
• Engineering degree required, with preference for Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity Engineering.
• Dominance over Cybersecurity principals, NIST framework, Risk Assessment actions, Risk Avoidance, Penetration Testing, Red Hat / White Hat exercises, creation and management of Cybersecurity Asset Management databases.
• CompTIA Security+ and ISC2 (International Information System Security Certification Consortium)’s CISSA/P- Certified Information Systems Security Associate / Professional, or equivalent certifications.
• Fluency in Brazilian Portuguese, English and Spanish is required (both written and verbal).
• Ability to manage complex situations and grasp the principal factors that drive multiple high complexity systems interacting with each other.
• Possess a very high attention to detail, and a good sense to detect when a situation is not aligned with expectations from senior management or customer expectations.
• Ability to understand and organize data in a clear and efficient manner for reporting purposes.
• Data Science exposure or hands-on experience with large sets of data is highly preferred.
• Willingness to learn, "can do" attitude, high willingness to help others.
• Travel Requirements: Up to 40%, primarily throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Ability to work smoothly among a large diversity of personalities and cultural backgrounds, hierarchical positions within the company, and large gamma of responsibilities (from an individual contributor, to a VP in charge of 300+ people), patiently re-focusing discussions on the intended outcomes.
• Experience implementing and/or operating Motorola LMR networks (both P25 and DIMETRA) is a plus.
