Job Overview:

Title: Sr. Data Governance
Experience: 5-7 years
Location: Gurgaon

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance professional to lead the development, implementation, and enhancement of our data governance framework. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in data quality, metadata management, and compliance, coupled with the ability to collaborate across business and technology teams to drive governance maturity across the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and oversee data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices across business units.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to define data ownership, stewardship models, and accountability structures.
• Establish and track key data governance KPIs, integrate dashboards, and provide actionable insights and reports for leadership.
• Lead initiatives around data quality management, including profiling, issue identification, remediation planning, and monitoring.
• Maintain and enhance data lineage, metadata, and master data management (MDM) processes and repositories.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, or other data privacy mandates).
• Partner with business and IT teams to embed governance practices into data projects and transformation initiatives.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members on governance standards, data policies, and operational execution.
• Contribute to the evaluation, implementation, and optimization of governance tools such as Collibra, Informatica, or Alation.
• Drive continuous improvement in data governance capabilities through proactive process enhancements and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Information Systems, or related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in data governance, data quality, or enterprise data management.
• Proven experience in developing and operationalizing data governance frameworks within medium to large organizations.
• Strong understanding of data quality concepts, metadata management, lineage, and MDM practices.
• Familiarity or hands-on experience with governance tools such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of SQL and general database concepts preferred.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at multiple levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a mindset for driving data excellence and accountability.
