Overview
At Mastercard, the Global Export Controls & Sanctions Compliance team has implemented robust compliance programs designed to meet regulatory obligations and to monitor that internal business lines have strong programs in place to meet Mastercard’s export controls and sanctions requirements. The Senior Analyst, Export Controls & Sanctions Compliance will support the Director of Export Controls & Sanctions Compliance in the design, execution, and ongoing enhancement of the company’s global export controls and economic sanctions compliance program. This role is responsible for advising business partners on export controls and sanctions requirements, supporting investigations and escalations, and helping ensure compliance with applicable U.S. and non U.S. laws and regulations. The Senior Analyst will act as a subject matter resource for day to day compliance matters and will partner closely with Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Risk, and operational teams across the organization.
Role
• Support the Director in overseeing the global Export Controls & Sanctions Compliance Program, including policies, standards, procedures, and controls.
• Provide advisory support to business lines regarding U.S. and non U.S. export controls and sanctions requirements (e.g., EAR, OFAC, EU/UK sanctions, and other applicable regimes).
• Review and assess proposed products, services, and third party relationships for export controls and sanctions risk.
• Serve as a point of contact for routine inquiries, escalating complex or high risk matters to the Director as appropriate.
• Conduct detailed analysis of potential export controls or sanctions issues, including internal escalations, alerts, and reported concerns.
• Support investigations into potential violations, including fact gathering, documentation review, and root cause analysis.
• Maintain clear records of issues, inquiries, decisions, and outcomes to support audit, examinations, and regulatory inquiries.
• Assist in the design, enhancement, and testing of compliance controls, including screening processes and escalation workflows.
• Assist in drafting and maintaining export controls and sanctions policies, procedures, and informational materials.
• Support the development and delivery of training materials tailored to relevant stakeholders.
• Track regulatory developments, general licenses, and enforcement trends, and help assess their impact on the organization.
• Prepare management reporting, metrics, and dashboards for senior stakeholders and governance forums.
All About You
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Working knowledge of U.S. export controls and sanctions regulations (e.g., EAR, OFAC), with familiarity with non U.S. sanctions regimes preferred.
• Prior work experience in export controls, sanctions, trade compliance, or a related regulatory compliance function.
• Sanctions or export controls industry certification preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document analyses and explain requirements to non experts.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, effectively, and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments.
• Self-motivated, with excellent organizational skills and in-depth analytical skills.
• Ability to multitask, meet schedules and deadlines, and deliver thorough, accurate, high-quality work products.
• Ability to swiftly adapt to changing priorities
• Advanced expertise with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in Canada, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive pay based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Toronto, Canada: $83,000 - $132,000 CAD
