Sr. Accountant - General Ledger

Pay Range: $87,984 - $93,159 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours: This is a full-time salaried position that includes all benefits provided by the City of Fort Worth. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with operating hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. After successfully completing a six-month probationary period, there will be an option for remote work. Please note that some evening and weekend work may be required.

A Sr. Accountant – General Ledger job is available with the City of Fort Worth Financial Management Services Department’s Accounting Division. This is an advanced level position requiring a high level of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

• Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Possession of Certified Public Accountant credentials

• Possess credentials as a Certified Public Finance Officer

• Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible finance/accounting experience, preferably working in a State or Local Government environment

• Strong knowledge of Governmental Accounting (Fund Accounting) concepts

• Have a good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

• Have experience working with ERP systems and strong Excel skills

The Sr. Accountant – General Ledger job responsibilities include:

• Perform complex financial analysis and account reconciliations.

• Monitor general ledger accounts.

• Review/approve/post journal entries, perform month-end and year-end closing activities,

• Provide assistance during the City’s independent financial and single audits.

• Support internal/external customers and City departments to resolve Accounting issues.

• Any other duties that may be assigned.

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.

Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls Page 3 of 4 requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
