Quick Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Paediatric Speech-Language Pathologist to support the delivery of family-centered care in a team-based setting, providing comprehensive health checkups and specialized support to young families in British Columbia, Canada.

Job Description

Sprout Family Health offers a fresh, proactive approach to healthcare that is team-based and specially designed for young families. Based in Victoria, BC, we focus on prevention, child development, and integrating wellness into everyday care. Our team delivers a range of services, from comprehensive health checkups to specialized support, creating flexible, family-centered care that meets the unique needs of each family member. At Sprout Family Health, we’re dedicated to nurturing wellness with heart, warmth, and a touch of whimsy, making healthcare accessible, engaging, and effective for all.

The Opportunity:

Internal Role: Allied Health Specialist - SLP
Type: Independent Contractor (Casual/Part-Time, Scaling with Demand)
Location: Remote (Virtual-First) & Victoria, BC (Occasional in-clinic touchpoints a bonus)
Reports to: Nurse Practitioner / Clinical Operations Lead

Sprout Family Health is not a traditional fee-for-service clinic. We are a membership-based family integrated health team focused on proactive, relational care for young families.

We are looking for a Speech-Language Pathologist who is tired of the "churn-and-burn" or "waitlist management" models. You will join a high-performing team (NPs, RNs, Physio, OT, Parenting Coach, RCC) that actually talks to each other.

Your goal is not to carry a massive weekly therapy caseload. Your goal is to be the expert guide for parents of children, helping them catch delays early, navigate the system, and implement strategies at home before problems snowball.

What You Will Do

• Virtual Consultations (45 mins): Conduct video assessments for parents concerned about late talking, articulation, social communication, or feeding.
• Family Coaching: Shift the focus from "fixing the child" in a clinic room to coaching the parent on strategies they can use in real life
• Proactive Screening: Collaborate with NPs on Developmental Milestone Checks to flag red flags early.
• Care Navigation:
• Path A (Coach): The child needs stimulation. You provide a plan and resources
• Path B (Refer): The child needs intensive, long-term therapy. You write the plan and help secure the most optimal options l public/private external referral.

• Integration: While you work virtually, you are not an island. You chart and communicate findings via MYLE (EMR). You coordinate with the Nurse Practitioner, OT and Parenting Coach when a child’s "speech issue" is actually a sensory or behavioral puzzle.

Who You Are

• Pediatric Expert: Deep experience with the 0–6 demographic is non-negotiable. You know the difference between a "late bloomer" and a delay requiring intervention. RASP (Registry of Autism Service Providers) eligibility is a strong asset.
• Tech-Native: You are comfortable delivering care via video and using digital tools (Slack) to stay connected with your team remotely.
• Pragmatic & Empathetic: You give busy parents "Minimum Viable Interventions"—simple, high-impact changes—rather than guilt-inducing homework lists.
• Culturally Aligned: You value team-based care. You are willing to hop on a 5-minute call with an NP to discuss a case, or roundtable with the whole team.

Requirements

• Registration in good standing with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHBC).
• Professional Liability Insurance.
• Experience with parent-coaching frameworks (e.g., Hanen) is a strong asset.
• Based in British Columbia (ideally Victoria/Vancouver Island).

The Deal

• Flexibility: You open a few availability blocks; we fill them. Perfect for an SLP looking to add high-value consulting hours alongside other work.
• Collaboration by Design: You join clinical rounds meetings.
• Zero Admin: We handle the marketing, booking, billing, and intake forms. You simply focus on the families.
• Impact: You get to see the long-term and full-picture trajectory of the families you help, not just a snapshot.
