The San Mateo County Event Center and Fair is a public assembly facility that hosts a wide variety of events and produces the San Mateo County Fair; operates the Jockey Club – a satellite wagering facility for horseracing, as well as a full-service food operation. We proudly present the San Mateo County Fair, a highly anticipated and vibrant event at the San Mateo County Event Center. We seek a talented and motivated Sponsorship Assistant to join our dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a unique and thriving event and to help drive the success of the San Mateo County Fair.
Position Overview
As a Sponsorship Assistant, you will be crucial to supporting sponsorship partnerships for the San Mateo County Fair. Your primary responsibilities will include identifying and engaging potential sponsors, assisting in sponsorship relationships, and achieving revenue targets.
This is a part-time seasonal position not to exceed 29 hours per week with a scheduled end date of June 30th, 2026.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Identify and research potential sponsors to approach for partnerships.
Develop and maintain relationships with existing sponsors to ensure their continued support.
Create, deliver, and assist in the selling of compelling sponsorship proposals.
Assist in negotiating sponsorship agreements and contracts.
Identify and call local businesses to solicit cash sponsorship sales.
Collaborate with the Fair Operations Manager to ensure sponsors receive the agreed-upon benefits.
Track and report on sponsorship sales progress.
Collaborate with the events and production teams to guarantee the seamless implementation of sponsorship activations, encompassing elements such as banners, social media posts, logo placements, booth spaces, website listings, and more.
Achieve and exceed revenue goals based on tier level targets.
Manage and track all donations received year-round, ensuring proper documentation and acknowledgment of contributors.
Keep up-to-date records of sponsor contact information and agreements.
Provide excellent customer service to sponsors and partners.
Prepare detailed post-Fair recaps for sponsors, summarizing their deliverables, the impact of their sponsorship, and any key metrics or data related to their participation. This includes post-event reports and visual representations, ensuring that sponsors have a comprehensive understanding of the value and exposure they received through their partnership with the Fair.
Qualifications
Required
Strong communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Self-motivated and results-driven.
Knowledge of Fair or event sponsorships is a plus.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
A passion for the event and fair industry is desirable.
Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with management, colleagues, and clients.
Requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
