JOB TITLE: Specification Sales Trainee
Reports to: Director of Specification Sales
Location: Southern California
Position Overview
The Specification Sales Trainee will support the sales team in developing customer relationships, learning the lighting and controls industry, and assisting with project opportunities. This role is designed for someone interested in building a career in specification sales through hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to the architectural lighting community.
Duties + Responsibilities
Support the sales team in maintaining relationships with specifiers, designers, contractors, and manufacturer partners
Assist with identifying new business opportunities and prospecting potential accounts
Participate in customer meetings, product presentations, and showroom visits
Learn lighting and control system products, applications, and industry terminology
Help prepare proposals, budget pricing, and project documentation
Respond to customer inquiries and assist in resolving basic technical questions
Collaborate with internal departments to support customer needs and project follow-up
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and project activity
Skills + Specifications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow in a sales environment
Ability to build professional relationships and provide excellent customer service
Organized with strong attention to detail and time management skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Interest in architecture, lighting, design, or technical products preferred
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook

Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous industry-related experience is a plus
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
