Job Description
Who we are:
EOI Space is developing and deploying a network of satellites in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) to provide ultra-high-resolution Earth imagery. We aim to deliver timely and actionable data for commercial and defense applications.
We are on our way to achieving many industry firsts. This demands an ambitious team that revels in leaning into challenges, getting hands on, and working together. Does this sound like you? EOI Space is looking for a Spacecraft Test Engineer to help drive the testing of EOI spacecraft and components. This person will work with the AI&T leadership to create efficient and repeatable test processes for the spacecraft and its components, and execute testing across the system, in alignment with EOI’s mission objectives.
What you will do:
The Spacecraft Test Engineer is responsible for test execution in a safe and repeatable way across spacecraft systems and components. This role will help define tooling and documentation standards for spacecraft and component testing to meet program milestones.
This role requires an individual with a strong technical background and a willingness to learn, as the responsibilities bridge across many engineering disciplines. Additionally, the person in this role should have strong interpersonal skills in coordinating with people, both internally and externally (e.g., fabrication vendors, test houses, etc.).
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute functional tests on spacecraft hardware
Create custom software and hardware tools to enable automated testing, aid data collection, data processing, results documentation and summary
Design custom GSE using tools such as SolidWorks and Altium
Plan and conduct test readiness reviews
Create test flows, procedures, and training material as needed
Foster a culture of safety, rigor, and continuous improvement within the AI&T group
Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards and internal quality requirements
Work with IPT Leads, program management, and mission assurance to align test activities with overall mission objectives
Serve as a voice in program reviews, risk assessments, and anomaly resolution
Engage with third-party vendors/contractors. Verify that purchased equipment meets specs/requirements upon delivery from vendors
Assist in the preparation and deployment of GSE/STE hardware to ensure the success and reliability of the spacecraft and its subsystems
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, related engineering discipline, or equivalent
A minimum of 1 year of professional test engineering experience, focused on spacecraft/satellite applications
Experience with developing custom testing automation scripts and data acquisition
Experience programming in LabView from a blank canvas
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities (includes written communication as well as face-to-face interactions)
Proven organizational skills and the ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously
Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical and electrical first principles
Demonstrated knowledge of ASME and aerospace engineering standards
Familiarity with engineering best practices regarding aerospace design
Experience with testing and operating electronics and electromechanical assemblies
Experience with rapid prototyping and testing to verify proof-of-concept designs
Experience with spacecraft RF communications is a bonus
Travel up to <5%
