Herrington on the Bay- Events & Catering Kitchen
As demand for our events continues to grow, Herrington on the Bay is expanding our culinary team. We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Sous Chef to help lead a high-volume, from-scratch catering kitchen and support an exceptional team of hospitality professionals.

Key Responsibilities
Support daily kitchen operations, including full kitchen leadership when needed
Ensure consistent food quality, execution, and presentation across all menu items
Maintain standards for sanitation, food handling, allergen awareness, and safety compliance
Manage food cost, labor cost, and waste to meet budget targets
Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management of culinary staff
Conduct daily storage walk-throughs to ensure rotation, cleanliness, and organization
Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and relationships with vendors/purveyors
Communicate regularly with the Executive Chef and General Manager regarding updates, changes, and kitchen needs
Ensure opening/closing procedures are followed consistently
Qualifications
Culinary degree and/or equivalent professional training
5+ years culinary experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role
Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a diverse team for growth opportunities
Strong business and kitchen communication skills (written and verbal)
Experience with ordering, inventory control, and vendor management
Demonstrated success in food cost and waste efficiency
Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and adapt to shifting priorities
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Certifications
Department of Health Certification
Food Safety and Food Allergen Certification
