THE OPPORTUNITY
The Sourcing Specialist primarily handles sourcing requirements typically for materials and services. This position assists with the development and execution of strategic category plans for assigned categories, to optimize cost savings, service excellence, diversity spend and total cost of ownership for the category. Leads supplier management and client relationship management. Responsible for ensuring policy compliance, and process efficiencies by seeking and selecting the total cost of ownership via strategic sourcing to procure goods and services. This includes negotiations, market intelligence, creation of formal contracts, project planning and management, contract close outs, change orders, etc. ensuring that suppliers meet the specific terms of the contracts and maintain complete compliance of those terms and monitor the success of projects through supplier and project management. This can entail all aspects of the procure to pay process in order to determine the best interests and needs of Galvion.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
New Product or Supplier Introduction
Interface with Operations, Research & Development and Engineering functions regularly in order to introduce new product or new source of supply.
Review and approve ECO.
Support technical discussion with supplier related to tooling and FAT
Work with production, quality, engineering, to lead problem solving activities.
Develops sources of supply, establish procurement schedules, and assists in supplier pre-qualification activities.
Coordinates with internal team and suppliers to provide visibility and communicate updates.
Supply Chain Analysis
Gathers and interprets market data to gain understanding of spend and facilitate data analytics to support spend portfolio.
Serves as a subject matter expert in managing complex situations and/or larger sets of data.
Produces and analyzes Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) scorecards.
Establishes and monitors contract and supplier performance including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for medium complexity categories; and reviews with business groups and uses the data to improve future performance and strategy development.
Updates, processes, and approves procurement records in a timely manner as directed.
Supports coworkers and provides timely responses and guidance as it relates to the processing of their contracts/commodities. Ensures tactical support tasks are completed in a timely manner and with accuracy.
Identifies and outlines medium complexity issues. Able to engage small teams to present simple proposals and gain buy-in.
Supplier Management
Efficiently conducts request for quotes, negotiates, and executes contracts, and supports internal business partners on assigned procurement activities.
Leads the sourcing, negotiation, and contracting process for contracts/commodities.
Has a strong understanding of contracting practices and General Terms and Conditions (GTC).
Strategically plans and implements a defined sourcing and contracting structure.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
Understand technical drawing and be able to explain it to supplier
Basic knowledge of Soft Good and injection molding parts.
Requires strong knowledge of procurement / sourcing, supply market trends and supplier economics in a “development to manufacturing” process.
Must be able to analyze contracts, terms and conditions, and ramifications of contractual verbiage as it relates to the product, service, and supplier in question.
Solid understanding of business / financial principles.
Must possess the skills to interpret and analyze data to present and interpret outcomes.
Must be able to explain data to all end users and to identify sourcing opportunities from data.
Strong problem solving, decision making, and influencing skills.
Utilizes tools and resources available, has excellent understanding of systems and processes, and demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products. Uses this knowledge and experience to effectively facilitate the sourcing & contracting processes Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize against time sensitive deadlines.
Proficient skill level with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
5–8+ years of experience in engineering, sourcing, procurement.
Advanced proficiency in ERP, Excel, including Power Query and data modeling.
Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
Strong understanding of S&OP, demand planning, and inventory optimization.
Experience working with Arena or any other PLM.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience interacting with senior leadership.
Has worked with Sytline, Infor CSI or any other ERP
