As an expert in SolveSpace, you will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact by demonstrating your proficiency in CAD workflows within a dynamic remote setting. In this distinct role, your practical knowledge will contribute to training AI on how leading professionals address real-world engineering and design challenges utilizing SolveSpace.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead end-to-end parametric CAD projects in SolveSpace, from initial concept through to manufacturing export.
• Document and articulate your real workflow, design reasoning, and decision-making process while working on live projects.
• Create robust parametric sketches, applying comprehensive geometric and dimensional constraints.
• Develop complex 3D features including extrudes, revolves, and helixes, as well as perform Boolean operations and refine fully constrained designs.
• Organize assemblies, simulate mechanisms/linkages, and iterate designs based on engineering best practices.
• Prepare and export CAM-ready files (DXF, STL, STEP, etc.) for a variety of manufacturing methods such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and waterjet machining.
• Communicate effectively with team members, clearly explaining your process both verbally and in writing, to inform AI model development.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Extensive, hands-on expertise with SolveSpace, demonstrated by managing multiple full-cycle parametric CAD projects independently.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and CAD/CAM workflows, including experience with 3D modeling and computer-aided manufacturing.
• Proficient in creating and constraining parametric sketches, building 3D features, and managing assemblies within SolveSpace.
• Experience preparing files for various manufacturing technologies (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to articulate complex design logic and engineering decisions clearly.
• Proven ability to think critically about design intent, constraint logic, and iterative problem-solving in CAD environments.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote setting with a focus on collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience teaching, mentoring, or documenting workflows for CAD users or teams.
• Background in mechanical engineering, product design, or related technical fields.
• Familiarity with mechanism/linkage simulation or advanced constraint management in SolveSpace.
