McFadyen Digital is seeking an experienced  Solutions Architect to lead the design and delivery of complex enterprise systems for our global clients in the commerce, retail, and B2B sectors. This role combines broad technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong client-facing communication skills to deliver high-impact digital transformation initiatives.

You will be responsible for architecting solutions that span cloud infrastructure, full-stack applications, system integration, data architecture, and security while ensuring alignment with business goals. The ideal candidate thrives in a consulting environment and can confidently advise executives while rolling up their sleeves to work hands-on with delivery teams.

Responsibilities

Top 5 Responsibilities:

• Define and implement enterprise architectures that support modern commerce ecosystems across PIM, OMS, CRM, ERP, analytics, and marketing platforms.
• Lead solution design across cloud platforms, APIs, microservices, headless/front-end frameworks, and data platforms.
• Guide clients on best practices in digital commerce (B2B and B2C), omnichannel, and composable architecture (MACH).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solution scalability, extensibility, and maintainability.
• Champion DevSecOps practices and ensure architectures include robust security, privacy, and compliance (RBAC, RLS/CLS, encryption, GDPR, PCI).

Additional Responsibilities:

• Drive alignment across business, application, data, and technology architecture layers.
• Act as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders, providing architecture assessments, roadmaps, and innovative technical recommendations.
• Stay current on emerging technologies and lead internal knowledge-sharing and innovation initiatives.

Top 5 Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise architectures for commerce, retail, or B2B ecosystems.
• Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), API design, microservices, serverless, and event-driven architecture.
• Hands-on experience in full-stack development, including JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Next.js), backend (Node.js, Java, .NET), and databases (SQL, NoSQL, Graph).
• Strong knowledge of security best practices, including RBAC, RLS/CLS, encryption, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, PCI-DSS).
• Excellent client-facing communication and presentation skills—able to bridge technical and business language effectively.

Additional Qualifications:

• Deep understanding of commerce and retail architecture, including product catalogs, pricing models, customer segmentation, promotions, and B2B features like CPQ and contract pricing.
• Experience integrating and designing around PIM, OMS, CRM, ERP, analytics, and e-commerce platforms (Salesforce Commerce, Magento, Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, SAP Commerce).
• Proven ability to create secure, scalable, and modular enterprise systems.
• Strong grasp of DevOps tooling and infrastructure as code (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD).
• Ability to work across executive, product, engineering, and data teams to lead strategic conversations and tactical delivery.
• Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, agile consulting environments with multiple clients and priorities.
