Required Skills
Job Description
Are you ready to be Kin-at-i-can?
This one is different. Most Solution Architect roles ask you to document decisions other people have already made. At Kinatico, you are the technical design authority: your feasibility judgements shape what gets committed to, your architecture defines what Engineering builds, and your decisions on AI integration are being made now, on a platform that is actively being invested in.
Kinatico builds cloud-native SaaS products on AWS and Azure, written in C#, with a platform spanning microservices, event-driven architecture, modern REST and async APIs, and a growing AI layer. The data architecture underpinning our products needs to scale with an ambitious roadmap, and the solutions being designed today will shape what Engineering builds for years to come.
This is a craft role for a hands-on technical individual contributor. You will own detailed solution design from discovery through to delivery, partnering with the Chief of Product and the Head of Engineering on what gets built and how. Your credibility comes from your output with sharp commercial feasibility judgement.
About Kinatico
Kinatico is an ASX-listed Reg-Tech organisation. Kinatico CVCheck has been the trusted name in background screening and verification since 2005. Kinatico Compliance is our next-generation platform: a single, secure environment for organisations to manage their people compliance end-to-end. We move quickly, think commercially, and back each other.
OUR TEAM’S STRENGTH COMES FROM EVERYONE’S INDIVIDUALITY
Why This Role Is Different
AI-first, not AI-on-the-side. Kinatico is embedding AI across how we build, how we operate, and what we deliver to customers. You'll design architecture for AI-powered product features that create competitive edge, work within our AI development lifecycle, and shape custom AI agents that are transforming how we handle operational workloads.
Whole-of-business architecture. Your design authority extends beyond product engineering. You will shape the technical architecture of how Kinatico operates, from customer-facing platforms to the internal systems powering marketing, customer support, and operations.
Executive access, real decisions. You report to the Head of Engineering and work directly with the product and executive team. Your architectural recommendations directly influence what Kinatico commits to building. No layers, no dilution.
Pragmatism over perfection. The right design balances technical quality with delivery reality and business value. We want an architect with commercial instincts, not the most elegant diagram that never ships.
A modern stack you will actually enjoy. C# and .NET, Python, AWS and Azure, containerised workloads, infrastructure-as-code, LLM APIs, embedding models, and RAG patterns. Actively invested in, not maintained.
Architecture that matters. Your active design engagement is concentrated on products that are evolving, where architectural decisions have real consequences for what gets built next.
DELIVERING THE GOOD, STRIVING FOR THE GREAT
What You’ll Be Doing
Own detailed solution design across the platform: translating product requirements into buildable technical specifications across microservices, event-driven systems, REST and async APIs, and data architecture.
Engage Product during discovery to assess feasibility before commitments land on Engineering or the roadmap.
Maintain architecture decision record and various design documents as living source-of-truth artefacts Engineering can build from without ambiguity.
Apply the same rigour to third-party decisions: SaaS vendor choices, integration tooling, and external platforms assessed before any commitment is made.
Contribute to engineering standards, run design reviews, and build technical design literacy across Engineering.
What You’ll Bring
6+ years engineering with at least 2 years owning solution architecture or principal-level design at SaaS scale.
Hands-on experience with C# and .NET or Python, cloud-native architectures on AWS or Azure, microservices, event-driven design, and API design principles.
Practical AI fluency with experience designing systems that incorporate agentic AI, LLMs, embedding models, and RAG patterns, with governance considerations for regulated contexts.
Secure-by-design instincts: OWASP, ISO 27001, and privacy-by-design for platforms handling sensitive data are second nature.
Sharp commercial feasibility judgement: you know what is buildable, what needs rethinking, and what creates downstream risk, and you raise it early.
Collaborative influence without formal authority: credibility earned through technical rigour and the quality of your output, not hierarchy.
Regulated industry background in RegTech.
