We are currently looking for a highly skilled individual with deep software development and engineering skills who would join Odyssey engineering team as Software Engineer & Open Source Specialist to help us to develop and support bank’s Definitive Software Library – Odyssey Artifactory Service.
Odyssey is the name of a project to standardize the software development practices and software development assets within the bank. Odyssey Artifacts available via Odyssey Artifactory Service are used by all development projects within IT to resolve external open source, commercial as well as internal dependencies in order to maintain portable builds. Odyssey Artifactory service allows projects to publish their software artifacts from automated builds for deployment or consumption by others hence making Odyssey Artifactory a core service for every software construction project in the bank. Working on this projects allows you to build a product used by 10 000 other subject matter experts, project managers and developers in our bank.
In this role your main responsibilities will be to:
Act as Open Source Software SME (subject matter expert) (~ 70 % of a time)
Engineer the Odyssey solution (~ 30 % of a time)
Additionally the role will also provide the following “on per demand basis”
Provide expertise on software dependencies conflict resolution and management
Provide expertise on software configuration management good practices
Identify opportunities for service improvements and solve issues by automating repetitive tasks
Create and update product-/process documentation and service knowledge-base
Qualifications and experience Key technical skills Key soft skills
An ideal candidate would have:
Strong Application development background with a focus on Java (ideally > 3 years)
Knowledge of open source software: maven, svn, Artifactory or Nexus
Knowledge of software builds
Expertise in software construction process, life-cycle and application development good practices
Ability to learn quickly and be enthusiastic about technology
Good English language skills is a must
Nice to have (you will learn it if you do not know it):
Grails/Groovy experience
Java-script
RPM, NPM
Apache/Tomcat skills
Track record on java application debugging and tuning
