Software Engineering Lead

Summary

Guardsquare is looking for Software Engineering Leads to join us in our Leuven office and lead one of our Leuven based iXGuard (C++/LLVM) or DexGuard (Java) teams.

In this role you will be responsible for a team of about 5 to 7 software engineers working within an agile software development environment. The ideal candidate started their career technically and has a good understanding of software engineering within a high-tech start/scale-up, and grew into or is now ready for a team lead role.

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Own the results delivered by your team. You lead day-to-day development; assign tasks, track progress, ensure timely delivery and high quality.

• Mentor engineers, foster collaboration, and motivate the team to reach company and personal objectives.

• Set coding standards and best practices for maintainable solutions.

• Work with product teams to translate business needs into technical specifications.

• Implement and enforce testing practices to deliver reliable software.

• Encourage new ideas and own engineering processes to drive continuous improvement.

• Represent Guardsquare’s R&D values, its products and its culture.

Requirements:

• Masters in computer science with 5+ years of experience, of which at least 3 as a Team Lead

• Proven track record of achieving results with teams

• Experience setting performance goals and performing appraisals

• Strong programming fundamentals

• Previous experience with low level programming is an asset

• Deep knowledge of Java or C++ is also a nice plus

• A no-nonsense and pragmatic attitude, continuously raising the bar

• Excellent English communication

• Understanding the value of in-person leadership in a hybrid work environment
