Senior Software Engineer, Tax Technology

What you’ll do

You will work in the Tax Technology system team developing technical solutions supporting Point72’s tax systems and tax optimization data analytics. Specifically, you will:

• Contribute to the overall architecture and technical direction of the tax technology stack.

• Utilize best practices in software development, including technical documentation, code reviews, testing, and continuous integration

• Design and build new software applications and software enhancements and projects supporting tax application technology.

• Work closely with business stake holders to develop software solutions using test-driven and agile software development methodologies.

• Design cloud-based computing solutions to create scalable cloud native applications.

• Be responsible for system upgrades and features supporting resiliency and capacity improvements, automation and controls, and integration with internal and external vendors and services.

• Work with DevOps teams to resolve operational issues and leverage CI/CD platforms while following DevOps practices within the team and projects

• Continuously improve the platforms using the latest technologies and software development ideas.

• Develop close working relationships and collaborate with other technology teams to deliver cross-departmental initiatives.

What’s REQUIRED

• 3 to 10 years of professional software development experience with a focus on Java with Scala exposure.

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns and frameworks.

• Experience building applications with focus on user-friendly interface design, as well as back-end and database optimization.

• Design and implementation experience in building systems with large data volumes and scalability.

• SQL development, debugging experience with relational database.

• Experience with building micro services, Kubernetes based platforms, and AWS.

• Excellent verbal communication skills

• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

• Experience in the financial services industry, particularly in a hedge fund or asset management environment.

• Experience with Node.js and building RESTful APIs.

• Experience with building applications using Python

• Experience with React and Typescript technologies.

• Knowledge of messaging technologies Kafka, ActiveMQ, or Solace.

• Knowledge and/or experience with CI/CD, Jenkins and Artifactory.

• Experience architecting on AWS or other cloud provider for scalability and resiliency

• Knowledge of Datadog, Docker, Kubernetes, or OCP

• Knowledge of other database technologies (Elasticsearch)
