Software Engineer, Product Frontend (2-8 YOE)

As a Full-Stack, Front-End leaning engineer at Airtable, you will have the opportunity to work with customers to deeply understand their needs and workflows. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners across product management, design, research and data science to create innovative new features that enable our customers to do their best work. You will be responsible for owning and executing the end-to-end implementation of these new features that will contribute to making our toolkit even more powerful and successful.

Teams & New Product Lines:

• The Core Experience Team (FE) owns the UI layer of the Airtable app building platform. This layer (Interface Designer), sits atop the Data and Automations layer, and enables customers to create customized interfaces, supporting an expansive array of use cases. The team also owns complex backend systems, such as Airtable’s advanced permissions framework and the systems powering commenting and notifications. Additionally, the team collaborates closely with cross-functional partners and engages directly with customers to gather requirements and discuss use cases firsthand.

• The Omni Team (Full-Stack/FE) brings the power of AI directly to Airtable end users, making it easier than ever to search, navigate, and operate their applications. While other teams focus on embedding AI throughout the platform and building advanced tools for creators, this team’s mission is simple: ensure AI is immediately helpful with little to no setup. From the moment a customer opens a base, installs a solution, or uses a template, AI is there - ready to assist. The team also builds foundational elements of Airtable’s AI platform, enabling other engineering teams to deliver high-quality AI-powered experiences across the product.

• The Builder Experience Team (Full-Stack/FE) empowers users to turn ideas into valuable Airtable apps through AI. We’re focused on evolving Omni into a thought partner that understands user workflows, asks smart questions, and builds exactly what’s needed for each user's specific requirements. By leveraging AI to power app creation, we reduce friction for new builders, increase activation, and drive adoption across teams. Every initiative we ship lowers the barrier to building in Airtable and expands the impact of AI-built apps.

Please note: while we employ a hybrid working model at Airtable (flexible in working from the office or elsewhere), we are only hiring in the following locations at this time:

• Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and are open to coming into our office (Embarcadero) at least ~2-3 times/week for team collaboration

• Based in New York City and are open to coming into our office (Soho) at least ~2-3 times/week for team collaboration

• Based remotely in the greater Seattle area

What you'll do

• Spec and build product features that are beautiful, consistent, and fast, that encourage exploration, and that earn the trust of our customers through predictable, reliable, and thoughtful interactions.

• Work at all levels of the stack, from AWS, Node.js, and SQL to React, HTML. and CSS to build and maintain end to end products on Airtable.

• Partner with product managers, designers, and data scientists to understand the needs of potential users and build a product that unlocks their potential.

• Work alongside and learn from a talented group of engineers with a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds.

Who you are

• You have ~2-5 years of industry experience with modern full-stack web development, with particular emphasis on user facing feature development and full stack, frontend leaning work. Please note: while we are flexible on leveling for this role, we are particularly looking to hire junior/mid-career candidates given our roadmap needs.

• You are fluent in one or more frontend and backend technologies, and are interested in programming in JavaScript and React.

• You are excited by a product-oriented full stack or frontend role.

• You have a good understanding of web technologies and large-scale web application architecture.

• You have a background in computer science or a related field.

• You believe the best product is the one that helps users accomplish their goals while growing the business.

• You take a thoughtful approach to decision making; knowing when to move fast and when to do things right.

• You have strong convictions, weakly held and assume validation and iteration are a given to produce the best results.

• You show strong ownership instincts and sweat the details.

• You are currently based and/or will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City.

For work locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, New York City, and Los Angeles, the base salary range for this role is:
$148,100—$221,500 USD
