Software Engineer - Java (Communications Platform)

Squarespace is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Communications Platform team within the Building Blocks Engineering group. The team provides tools and services promoting effective communication between our product teams and our customers. Our vision is to provide easy-to-use platforms and services that make user communication effortless at scale. These platforms are used by most product teams at Squarespace making this a high impact and high visibility role.

You will report to the Engineering Manager of the Communications Platform team in our NYC office. This is a hybrid opportunity.

You'll Get To…

• Collaborate with engineers in the execution of projects focused on building frameworks and tools for Media services

• Work on projects using technologies like Java, Spring, Kafka, MongoDB, Postgres, CockroachDB, Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP

• Write well structured and maintainable backend code.

• Participate in code reviews, team processes and provide feedback about best practices.

Who We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience developing production systems using Java and Spring.

• 1+ years of experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Postgres and CockroachDB.

• 1+ years of experience with asynchronous eventing systems and platforms such as Kafka.

• Like working collaboratively with stakeholders and engineers to come up with the best solutions for the problems in hand.

• Front-end development experience with React or Typescript is a plus.

Cash Compensation Range: $96,500 - $173,500 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive structure in addition to base salary.
