Software Engineer II (QA)

Role Purpose

At Jumio, you will work for one of the market leaders in the global identity verification space, helping to make the digital world a safer place for everyone. As an SDE 2 with a QA Specialization, you aren't just a tester—you are a developer who builds high-performance automation infrastructure. You will bridge the gap between quality and development, owning the automation suites for our products while contributing directly to our backend codebase.

By architecting automation for our web services and ML-driven backends, you directly impact the latency and reliability of the identity verification process. You will enable higher accuracy for our algorithmic models and have the autonomy to challenge our existing tools and processes to drive technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect & Automate: Design and scale robust automated test frameworks (primarily Python-based) that ensure continuous high-quality delivery.

• ML Validation: Develop data-driven testing strategies specifically tailored for Machine Learning models and complex datasets.

• Hybrid Development: Contribute to backend feature development and code reviews, ensuring quality is "baked in" from the first line of code.

• Technical Strategy: Design and implement comprehensive test plans for REST services, moving beyond basic coverage to sophisticated edge-case validation.

• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and code review feedback to junior team members, elevating the team's overall coding standards.

• Troubleshooting: Lead deep-dive debugging sessions to resolve complex system issues and regression bottlenecks.

Experience and Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Tenure: 3+ years of professional experience in software development or automation engineering.

• Python Expertise: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience with Python (focused on clean, maintainable, and object-oriented code).

• Technical Stack: Deep proficiency with PyTest, Selenium, and libraries for REST API testing (e.g., Requests).

• Environment: Comfortable operating in UNIX-like environments with proficient Bash scripting skills.

• Cloud Native: Practical experience with Docker and AWS ecosystem.

• Agile Mindset: Clear understanding of Agile methodologies and the "Definition of Done" regarding product quality.

• Communication: Strong analytical and communication skills in English, with an ability to simplify complex technical problems.

Great to Have

• Experience in lead or "Quality Champion" roles within cross-functional squads.

• Proven track record in global organizations, collaborating across multiple time zones.

• Exposure to Java or other backend-centric languages.
