Position Overview:
As a member of the Customer Engineering team, the Software Engineer will be working on pilots of a newly launched product and will help to solve complex problems in the retail automation space. The performance of our detections and recognitions is foundation to the value we deliver to our customers. As a core member of our engineering team, you will work with our world-class team of engineers and scientists to build and apply the BrainOS platform for the next generation of intelligent machines. Your experience will be pivotal in advancing our mission of making the real world work better.
Essential Job Functions:
• Build and review performance metrics and dashboards of the production and/or pilot fleet as a key indicator of customer experience, and product performance
• Analyze trends and identify recommendations in product performance for improvements in our model training pipeline and operations
• Develop code and deliver software features/functionality that increases customer value and product scalability
• Increase the agility/ software release frequency of the team and organization through code refactoring, simplification, and removal
• Coordinate with cross-functional areas of expertise including hardware, firmware, platform, user experience, quality, cloud, autonomy and Applied ML engineering to deliver world-class customer value
• Remain up to date with developments across platform, AI, autonomy, navigation, and other robots, in order to leverage and contribute towards software innovation across all products
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
• 0-2 years of demonstrated experience in software development
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:
• Experience writing C++ (11+) and/or Python applications for embedded systems
• Experience building and evaluating computer vision models for object detection and recognition
• Solid understanding of design patterns, data structures, and advanced programming techniques
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a multiple internal and external stakeholder environment
• Strong analytical skills that enable data-driven decisions and prioritization
• Experience with soft real-time and multi-threaded systems
Things that Make a Difference:
• Experience designing and developing robotic systems using robotics frameworks, including ROS, and existing libraries and tools
• Experience with path planning, AI algorithms, navigation algorithms, or robot behavior systems
• Experience with continuous integration, deployment and release management tools
• Experience with Agile and Scrum methodology
• Desire to constantly learn, receive and act on feedback, and share knowledge

Salary Range and Benefits:
The anticipated salary for candidates who will work in San Diego, California is $123,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Brain Corp is a multi-state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
