Software Engineer I - Backend (UAE National Only)

The ideal candidate will support the Software Engineering and Product teams by contributing to the development, testing, and maintenance of software solutions. The role is designed for early-career engineers who are eager to learn, grow their technical skills, and gain hands-on experience while working under guidance and mentorship from senior engineers.

 

The Software Engineer (Emirati) will focus on understanding existing systems, writing simple and well-structured code, and gradually taking ownership of small tasks while developing toward the next career level.

 

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

• Learn and apply HungerStation’s software development standards, tools, and best practices
• Read, understand, and modify existing codebases under supervision
• Assist in implementing simple features, fixes, and enhancements based on clear requirements
• Write clean, readable code following basic object-oriented programming principles
• Perform unit testing and basic manual testing to validate functionality
• Document code changes with clear comments to support maintainability
• Assist in debugging and resolving basic issues with guidance from senior engineers
• Participate in code reviews as a learner and apply received feedback

 

Collaboration & Learning

• Work closely with senior software engineers to learn system design and engineering workflows
• Collaborate with the Product Team to understand requirements at a basic level
• Actively seek feedback and demonstrate eagerness to improve technical and communication skills
• Participate in team discussions, knowledge-sharing sessions, and on-the-job mentoring

 

Governance and Quality

• Follow established engineering policies, procedures, and development processes
• Adhere to coding standards, security practices, and documentation guidelines
• Contribute ideas for improving development practices as learning progresses

 

Daily Operations

• Support daily engineering activities to ensure continuity of work
• Complete assigned tasks on time with attention to quality and accuracy
• Communicate progress, blockers, and questions clearly to the reporting manager or mentor
• Maintain a positive and professional approach when working with internal stakeholders

 

 

 

 

• Fresh grad to 4 years of relevant experience (including internships, university projects, or graduate roles)
• Strong interest in software engineering and building real-world products
• Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field (required)
• Graduation from a UAE-based university is strongly preferred
