About the Role
You will join the Grok Chat Product team, responsible for the user-facing chat portal at grok.com and related experiences. We build highly scalable frontends, APIs, and features that handle tens of thousands of queries per second. Our focus is delivering the best possible chat interface—seamless, intuitive, and maximally useful—to turn Grok into an essential "everything app" that amplifies human productivity across any domain.
Help build the portal that lets users accomplish anything: ask questions, create slide decks, solve puzzles, or tackle real work in engineering, law, medicine, and beyond. We're creating an easy-to-use experience that works flawlessly, driving a 10x increase in what knowledge workers can achieve. No prior AI experience required—just sharp thinking, relentless execution, and passion for AI that redefines what's possible. Own end-to-end features that delight millions, collaborating closely with model and research teams to ship breakthroughs at pace.
Responsibilities
• Design and deliver polished, scalable user-facing features and APIs for Grok's chat experience.
• Innovate on frameworks for rapid experimentation to iterate quickly and keep Grok leading in reasoning and utility.
• Architect high-performance systems for personalized, reliable interactions at global scale.
• Build and optimize data pipelines using real-time user signals to continuously improve the product.
• Own projects from ideation to deployment and monitoring, gathering feedback to refine the seamless portal vision.
Required Qualifications
• Proactive self-starter who turns bold ideas into high-impact realities with focused execution.
• Expert in TypeScript, Python, or Rust, with experience crafting clean, maintainable code.
• Skilled in scalable architectures, Kubernetes, observability, and production tuning for performance/reliability.
• Track record shipping consumer-facing products to millions, emphasizing user delight and feedback.
• Passionate about AI's transformative potential and committed to building indispensable tools users rely on daily.
Interview Process
After submitting your application, the team reviews your CV and statement of exceptional work. If your application passes this stage, you will be invited to a 15 minute interview (“phone interview”) during which a member of our team will ask some basic questions. If you clear the initial phone interview, you will enter the main process, which consists of 2 technical interviews and 1 project deep-dive interview:
• Practical coding assessment in a language of your choice.
• Systems design hands-on: Demonstrate practical skills in a live problem-solving session.
• Project deep-dive: Present and answer questions about exceptional work that you’ve done.
• Meet and greet with the wider team. Our goal is to finish the main process within one week. Final interviews will be conducted in person.
Annual Salary Range
$180,000 - $440,000 USD
