Software Development Engineer III, Extensions - Frontend

As an SDE III focused on Browser Extensions, you will take ownership of building and scaling high-quality, performance-driven web extension experiences used in production at scale. This role is designed for a senior engineer who can independently drive complex initiatives end to end—from technical design to reliable delivery—while influencing product direction and engineering standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to shape the product roadmap, design optimal solutions, and ensure that browser-based experiences are robust, secure, and performant across environments. In addition to hands-on development, this role carries strong expectations around technical leadership, mentorship, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and deliver well-scoped projects independently, ensuring high-quality outcomes with minimal errors and on-time execution
• Design and implement scalable, maintainable solutions for new features and modules in collaboration with other engineers
• Contribute meaningfully to the product roadmap through technical insights and architectural recommendations
• Establish and promote best practices in development, performance optimization, testing, and code quality
• Collaborate across teams to define clean interfaces, simplify integrations, and build reusable components and services
• Provide technical mentorship to engineers, offering guidance on design decisions, implementation strategies, and problem-solving
• Drive engineering excellence through design documentation, code reviews, testing strategies, observability, and safe rollout processes
• Diagnose and resolve production issues across the stack, participate in operational support, and proactively reduce system reliability risks
• Influence architecture and long-term technical direction through strong ownership and leadership

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 7+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping production-grade web applications
• Strong expertise in frontend technologies including JavaScript, TypeScript, DOM rendering and manipulation, and frameworks such as React
• Solid programming experience in at least one backend language such as Node.js or Python, with strong computer science fundamentals
• Proven experience working on high-scale, customer-facing production systems
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to complex challenges
• Deep understanding of design patterns and their practical application in real-world systems
• A strong focus on writing highly optimized, performant, and maintainable production-quality code
• Passion for technology and staying current with modern engineering trends and tools
• Experience building or maintaining cross-browser web extensions is a strong advantage
• Exposure to AI/ML systems, particularly on-device or client-side models, is a plus
