Mission Aviation Fellowship is a unique Christian ministry that operates over 120 aircraft in almost 30 countries worldwide. MAF transports workers, patients, relief workers, community supplies and medical aid in the world’s most remote regions and places of deepest human need. Operating for 80 years, Mission Aviation Fellowship has developed into a worldwide team of specialists; over 450 staff families, including roughly 50 Canadians and their families, serve in both technical and support roles.

POSITION PURPOSE/OVERVIEW
The Social Media and Communications Specialist will play a key part in an exciting moment for MAF Canada. As the Social Media and Communications Specialist, you will play an important role in a growing, dynamic international non-profit and will be expected to give it your all, take initiative, and take MAF Canada’s social media to new heights.
Through creating, scheduling, and posting on social media, you will tell current and prospective donors how God is powerfully working in the lives of the world’s most isolated people. You will seek to find new ways to tell stories that resonate with MAF audiences across a range of formats and channels, including (but not limited to) posts, blogs, articles, and videos. As part of the Marketing and Communications team, you will be on the lookout for new digital trends and contribute to projects that raise the profile of MAF Canada.
As part of the internship, you will refine your skills and have a defined set of goals which will be regularly evaluated. You will have weekly meetings with your supervisor to learn where you can improve your expertise and be well-positioned to meet future career goals.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media - 50%
Assist with the development of a social media strategy that works towards fulfilling MAF Canada’s digital marketing and communication goals.
Develop and implement a social media calendar.
Manage MAF’s social media channels, including: Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
Grow MAF’s audience on social media channels.
Help develop MAF Canada’s social media influencer program
Monitor and proactively respond to online messages, comments, and posts
Content Management - 20%
Source relevant and engaging content that tells the story of MAF Canada and its impact
Organize content in a way that enables staff to find and use it in a timely and effective manner.
Help create content policies and rules that enable the effective use of content.
Help improve the quality of content produced through the creation and rollout of tools and training.
Writing - 20%
Write engaging stories about MAF’s work around the world for website, marketing and fundraising materials.
Write pieces of content such as newsletters, blogs, reports, scripts, and emails.
Public Relations - 10%
Support public relations work through the writing of press releases and outreach emails.
Support the Head of Communications through replying to and managing correspondence with members of the media.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Pursuing or graduated with a degree or diploma in English, Creative Writing, Communications, Marketing or equivalent
Strong attention to detail
Excellent writing and editing skills
Proven ability to write short yet captivating stories
Ability to summarize complex concepts and information
Ability to edit video on Canva or similar
Proven ability in creating and posting social media content
Bonus: Experience in a charity of a similar size and mission

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
A mostly remote with a one-day work from office environment as appropriate/possible to accomplish the role and responsibilities of this position and to meet and exceed agreed-upon objectives.
