The SoC Functional Validation Engineer is responsible for performing comprehensive functional validation of integrated System-on-Chips (SoCs). This role focuses on validating IP integration, interactions between IPs, and system‑level features to ensure product quality and functionality. The engineer will apply a variety of hardware and software tools, debug methodologies, and validation techniques to achieve complete validation coverage.

Key Responsibilities

SoC Validation & Test Execution

• Perform functional validation for integrated SoCs, with emphasis on IP block integration and system‑level interactions.
• Develop and execute SoC validation methodologies, including validation test plans, coverage assessments, and execution strategies.
• Apply hardware and software tools to ensure validation completeness, including simulation, emulation, firmware‑based testing, and custom OS builds.

Debugging & Failure Analysis

• Perform detailed silicon debug to identify root causes of system‑level and functional failures.
• Resolve validation issues related to SoC functionality, integration, and IP interactions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive failure analysis and corrective actions.

Design Change Assessment

• Review proposed design modifications to assess their impact on validation requirements, timelines, and coverage.
• Update validation plans based on design updates, architectural changes, or new feature additions.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

• Work with architecture, design, verification, board, platform, and manufacturing teams to strengthen debug capabilities and validation strategies.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of SoC validation methodologies, processes, and best practices.

Content & Tool Development

• Develop validation content to exercise or enhance specific IP interactions.
• Use various tools and techniques—including microcode patching, firmware updates, and custom operating system builds—to stimulate system behavior and achieve comprehensive coverage.

Reporting & Documentation

• Publish detailed SoC validation reports summarizing activities, coverage results, issues found, debug outcomes, and quality assessments.
• Communicate findings effectively to stakeholders and ensure alignment with product requirements and specifications.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position:

• Bachelor's degree in Electronic, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar degree.
• Intermedium English proficiency (written and spoken).
• Permanent and unrestricted right to work in Mexico.

Preferred Qualifications

Are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates:

• Knowledgeable of Linux Operating Systems
• Python and C or C+ programing experience
• 1-year experience developing test content
• Knowledgeable of SoC/PC architecture

The requirements listed can be obtained through a combination of industry-relevant job experience, internship experiences, and/or schoolwork, classes, or research.
