Job Role: Senior ETL Developer
Job Description:
The Senior ETL Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure data integration solutions that support enterprise management information, reporting, analytics, and regulatory needs. This role focuses on end-to-end ETL design and implementation, ensuring high-quality, reconciled, and well-governed data pipelines across cloud-based data platforms.
The position requires strong expertise in ETL tools, cloud data ecosystems, data modeling, and orchestration, with close teamwork across reporting, analytics, and governance teams to enable trusted enterprise data consumption.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Acquisition, Transformation & Integration
• Design, develop, and enhance complex ETL workflows to acquire, transform, and load data from diverse source systems into enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake
• Use enterprise ETL tools (e.g., AWS Glue, Ab Initio, Matillion, DataStage) to build scalable and reusable data pipelines
• Implement robust data reconciliation, validation, and error-handling processes to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Maintain strong data lineage and traceability across all ETL processes
Data Modeling & Performance Optimization
• Design and implement unified data models, including star schemas and dimensional models, to support reporting and analytics
• Optimize data structures and ETL logic to improve performance, scalability, and cost efficiency in cloud data environments
• Partner with reporting and analytics teams to ensure ETL outputs align with downstream consumption needs
Cloud & Platform Engineering
• Develop and operate ETL solutions within cloud environments (AWS and Azure)
• Leverage cloud-native storage and compute capabilities while ensuring performance and reliability
• Use Control-M to schedule, orchestrate, and monitor ETL jobs and dependencies
Governance, Security & Compliance
• Apply data governance, security, and access control standards within ETL design and execution
• Maintain metadata, documentation, and operational run books for all ETL assets
• Support audit, regulatory, and compliance requirements through repeatable and well-documented data pipelines
• Ensure audit trails and reconciliation controls are embedded within ETL processes
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
• Translate business and reporting requirements into detailed ETL technical designs
• Work closely with data designers, MI/reporting teams, and platform engineers
• Support production deployments
• Mentor junior ETL developers
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
• Strong hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Ab Initio, Matillion, DataStage (or equivalent enterprise ETL platforms)
• Advanced SQL skills with performance tuning experience
• Experience working with Snowflake as an enterprise data warehouse
• Solid grasp of data modeling concepts, including star schema and dimensional modeling
• Experience with job scheduling and orchestration using Control-M
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) for data solutions
Governance & Data Management
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data security standards
• Ability to design and detail out end-to-end data flows ensuring lineage
• Experience embedding data quality and reconciliation controls in ETL pipelines
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in financial services, risk, regulatory, or management reporting environments
• Familiarity with data cataloging tools and data quality frameworks
• Experience supporting reporting tools such as Power BI (from a data producer perspective)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
