Job Description
GT was founded in 2019 by a former Apple, Nest, and Google executive. GT’s mission is to connect the world’s best talent with product careers offered by high-growth companies in the UK, USA, Canada, Germany, and the Netherlands.
On behalf of AAVantgarde Bio, GT is looking for Snowflake Data Engineer interested in designing, implementing, and optimizing Snowflake solutions to support the needs of their clinical programs.
About the Client
AAVantgarde Bio is an international clinical-stage biotechnology company developing next-generation gene therapies for inherited retinal diseases. The company has created two proprietary technologies that enable the delivery of large genes into human cells, overcoming one of the major limitations of traditional gene therapy approaches. These platforms are already being validated in clinical trials, with the potential to expand into multiple disease areas beyond ophthalmology.
Headquartered in Milan, AAVantgarde operates with a growing international team and a strong focus on translating advanced science into real patient impact. The company was founded by Professor Alberto Auricchio, a globally recognised pioneer in gene therapy.

About the Role
AAVantgarde is looking for a Snowflake Data Engineer to play a core role in building and optimising a scalable, automation-first clinical data environment within its Biometrics function.
This role focuses on engineering enterprise-grade Snowflake data assets that support multi-study clinical workflows, biometrics, statistical review, operational monitoring, and downstream analytics. You will work closely with Biometrics, Clinical Operations, Data Management, Quality, and technical teams to translate raw clinical and operational data into validated, analysis-ready datasets.
The role is ideal for someone who understands regulated data environments and wants their work to directly influence clinical execution, scientific learning, and patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
• Architect, build, and optimise Snowflake environments supporting multiple clinical studies and cross-functional analytics use cases.
• Design and maintain automated data ingestion and transformation pipelines using modern ETL/ELT and orchestration frameworks.
• Develop standardised, reusable curated data layers, semantic mappings, and access models for biometrics, statistics, and data-science teams.
• Implement robust data quality controls, monitoring, auditability, and lineage tracking to support governance and regulatory readiness.
• Enable scalable foundations for dashboards, analytics, automation, and AI use cases across clinical programs.
• Partner closely with Biometrics, Clinical Operations, Data Management, Quality, and vendors to convert raw study data into actionable insights.
• Champion automation and standardisation to reduce manual processing and improve end-to-end study oversight.
• Continuously improve Snowflake usage by applying best practices in performance optimisation, cost efficiency, and security.
Essential knowledge, skills & experience:
• Proven hands-on experience with Snowflake, SQL, and modern cloud-based data architectures.
• Strong background building production-grade data pipelines, curated data models, and monitoring frameworks.
• Experience with ETL/ELT and orchestration tools such as dbt, Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, Matillion, or similar.
• Solid understanding of data governance, data quality, lineage, and compliance principles.
• Experience working in regulated environments (clinical, healthcare, pharma, diagnostics) is highly advantageous.
• Ability to design standardised, scalable data assets across multiple studies, vendors, and data formats.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional, highly technical environments.
• Pragmatic mindset balancing innovation, compliance, standardisation, and delivery speed.
Nice-to-have:
• Snowflake certifications (SnowPro Core / Advanced)
• Exposure to biometrics, clinical analytics, or statistical data workflows
Key Success Indicators
• Faster access to validated, analysis-ready data across studies and functional stakeholders.
• Reduced manual processing and improved end-to-end oversight through automated monitoring, lineage tracking, and QC layers.
• A resilient data foundation that supports scaling, governance, real-time analytics, and downstream automation.
• Enhanced collaboration across biometrics, statistics, operations, vendors, and internal technical teams.
We go beyond usual perks… By working with us, you will get:
• Health insurance
• Psychotherapy coverage
