Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong end-to-end banking process expertise to support process review, optimization, and transformation initiatives across key finance and banking operations. This is not a pure Project Manager role — the ideal candidate should be a hands-on domain expert who can assess current-state processes, identify pain points, and advise on AI-enabled optimization opportunities across workflows, controls, and customer/service journeys.
The SME may come from either of the below domains:
• Credit / Lending end-to-end process
• Wholesale Banking / Treasury Payments process
Exposure to asset digitization / tokenization will be an added advantage, especially where it intersects with credit, collateral, payments, treasury operations, or transaction workflows.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as a senior domain advisor for banking process transformation initiatives, with focus on process efficiency, control enhancement, and automation opportunities.
• Review and map end-to-end business processes, identify operational bottlenecks, control gaps, and opportunities for AI-led optimization.
• Provide SME input across business process redesign, target operating model, workflow improvement, and transformation planning.
• Partner with business, operations, technology, architecture, and change teams to define future-state processes and practical implementation recommendations.
• Assess how AI / GenAI / intelligent automation can improve productivity, turnaround time, decisioning, exception handling, document processing, and customer servicing.
• Support workshops, discovery sessions, and requirement discussions with stakeholders across operations, finance, product, risk, and technology teams.
• Translate business process pain points into transformation use cases, process improvement recommendations, and implementation priorities.
• Provide advisory input during evaluation / planning / execution phases of strategic transformation programs.
• Ensure recommendations align with banking controls, compliance requirements, operational risk considerations, and governance frameworks.
• Contribute to business case preparation, impact assessment, process documentation, and operating model recommendations.
• Where relevant, advise on digitization of banking assets / workflows, including tokenization-linked operating processes and downstream impacts.
• Work closely with delivery teams to ensure domain alignment during solution design and implementation.
Domain Expertise – Candidate can come from either area
A. Credit / Lending SME
Strong knowledge in one or more of the below:
• Corporate / Commercial / Wholesale Lending lifecycle
• Loan origination, underwriting, credit assessment, approval workflows
• Documentation, collateral, covenant monitoring, disbursement, servicing, and closure
• Credit operations, loan booking, renewals, restructuring, limits, and exceptions
• Exposure to trade / structured / secured lending is a plus
B. Payments / Treasury SME
Strong knowledge in one or more of the below:
• Wholesale Banking Payments lifecycle
• Treasury / transaction banking operations
• Domestic / cross-border payments, settlement, reconciliation, liquidity or cash management
• SWIFT / payment messaging / payment controls / exception handling
• Payment operations, investigation flows, sanctions / compliance touchpoints, treasury servicing
• Exposure to digital payments modernization is an advantage
Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of experience in banking domain roles, with strong expertise in end-to-end process flows rather than only system/project coordination.
• Proven experience as a Business SME / Process SME / Transformation Advisor / Domain Consultant within banking or financial services.
• Strong understanding of banking operations, process controls, dependencies, and operational pain points.
• Experience in process optimization / transformation / operating model / business analysis / advisory roles.
• Good understanding of how AI, GenAI, workflow automation, OCR, NLP, intelligent decisioning, or process mining can be applied in banking processes.
• Ability to engage senior stakeholders and provide practical, business-led transformation recommendations.
• Strong workshop facilitation, documentation, process mapping, and stakeholder management skills.
• Exposure to large-scale banking transformation / replacement / optimization programs will be highly preferred.
