Position: Small Groups Pastor
Reports To: Connections Pastor
Objective: The Small Groups Pastor at Community of Faith provides vision, leadership, and pastoral oversight for all adult small group ministries. This role exists to help people connect relationally, grow spiritually, and live out biblical communities through healthy, multiplying groups that align with the mission and values of Community of Faith.
The Small Groups Pastor will recruit, train, equip, and care for group leaders while building systems that help people move from attendance to authentic discipleship and meaningful relationships.
Responsibilities:
Vision & Strategy
Develop and cast a compelling biblical vision for small groups at Community of Faith.
Align the small groups ministry with the overall mission and leadership direction of the church.
Create clear pathways for people to join groups and grow in discipleship.
Promote a culture of spiritual formation, care, and leadership development.
Leader Recruitment & Development
Identify, recruit, train, and coach small group leaders and hosts.
Create leadership pipelines for future facilitators and coaches.
Provide regular encouragement, pastoral care, and accountability to leaders.
Develop onboarding processes and training opportunities for new leaders.
Systems & Administration
Oversee scheduling, group tracking, and reporting using church systems (such as CCB).
Establish policies and best practices for group health, attendance, safety, and communication.
Work with church staff to ensure alignment with volunteer management and safety processes.
Monitor participation metrics and group health indicators.
Pastoral Care & Support
Provide shepherding for group leaders and participants as needed.
Partner with pastoral staff to help address care needs surfaced in groups.
Support conflict resolution and restoration when issues arise within groups.
Communication & Promotion
Work with communications staff to promote groups and group launches.
Provide clear communication to leaders and participants regarding expectations, calendars, and resources.
Champion stories of life change from groups.
Collaboration
Work closely with other pastors and ministry directors to integrate groups into the church’s discipleship strategy.
Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and church-wide initiatives.
Qualifications:
A growing and evident relationship with Jesus Christ and a calling to pastoral ministry.
Agreement with the mission, beliefs, and values of Community of Faith.
Previous experience leading small groups, discipleship ministries, or pastoral care in a church context.
Experience facilitating or overseeing the “Rooted” curriculum (or similar discipleship pathways) preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to recruit, motivate, and equip volunteer leaders.
Experience building systems and scalable ministry structures is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree required; theological training or seminary education preferred.

Details:
Workdays and hours are Monday – Thursday, 9:00am to 4:00am and Sunday 8:00am to 1:00pm. Participation in all hands-on deck (AHOD) events.
