Position Overview
Are you into race cars and consider yourself a gear head? Do you love to turn a wrench and work on your on cars? We are looking for a skilled and dependable Small Engine Repair Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of outdoor power equipment OPE, including lawn mowers, zero-turns, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, generators, and other small-engine units. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically minded, and committed to delivering quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair small engines (2-stroke & 4-stroke), electrical systems, hydraulics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, blade sharpening, belt replacement, filter changes, and tune-ups.
Troubleshoot equipment issues accurately and efficiently.
Complete work orders with notes, parts used, labor hours, and recommendations.
Communicate repair needs, estimates, and timelines with service advisors or customers.
Test equipment to ensure repairs meet quality standards.
Qualifications
2+ year experience in small engine repair preferred (but willing to train the right candidate).
Understanding of outdoor power equipment, 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines, and basic electrical systems.
Ability to read schematics, service manuals, and technical documents.
Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks related to equipment repair.
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
Experience with brands like Hustler, Exmark, Exmark, Grasshopper, STIHL, Echo, Kawasaki, Kohler, Briggs.
Welding or fabrication skills.
Hydraulic system knowledge.
Previous dealership or shop experience.
Schedule & Pay
Full-time position
Pay based on experience (hourly plus commission)
Monday–Friday (occasional Saturdays during peak season)
