Job Description

It all started in sunny San Diego, California in 2004 when a visionary engineer, Fred Luddy, saw the potential to transform how we work. Fast forward to today — ServiceNow stands as a global market leader, bringing innovative AI-enhanced technology to over 8,100 customers, including 85% of the Fortune 500®. Our intelligent cloud-based platform seamlessly connects people, systems, and processes to empower organizations to find smarter, faster, and better ways to work. But this is just the beginning of our journey. Join us as we pursue our purpose to make the world work better for everyone.

The Skills Intelligence Analyst serves as the analytical engine for ServiceNow's Skills Center of Excellence, transforming our enterprise skills taxonomy into actionable workforce insights. This role focuses on skills-specific data extraction, analysis, and intelligence generation to support capability-based decision-making across the enterprise. The analyst conducts skills gap analyses, monitors taxonomy health, provides domain expertise to People Analytics on skills dashboards, and delivers data-driven recommendations that enable leaders to make informed talent decisions. This is a hands-on, skills-focused analytical role requiring strong SQL, Excel, and skills domain knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

Skills Intelligence Analysis & Reporting

• Extract and analyze skills data from Skills Intelligence, Work Intelligence, Workday, and learning systems to identify patterns, trends, and capability gaps.
• Collaborate with People Analytics to integrate skills intelligence into enterprise dashboards, providing domain expertise on taxonomy structure, business logic, and validation requirements.
• Conduct regular skills gap analyses comparing current workforce capabilities against business needs and strategic initiatives.
• Generate automated weekly/monthly reports tracking skills coverage, proficiency levels, internal mobility, and upskilling rates.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis answering business questions about skills distribution, role transitions, and capability coverage.

Data Quality & Taxonomy Health Monitoring

• Monitor data quality across the skills ecosystem, flagging anomalies, duplicates, inconsistencies, or missing data.
• Track taxonomy adoption and usage patterns—identifying which skills are actively used vs. dormant.
• Surface insights on taxonomy coverage, adoption patterns, and health metrics that inform continuous improvement of the skills framework.
• Validate skills data accuracy by cross-referencing with job profiles, learning completions, and employee assessments.
• Collaborate with Skills Transformation Manager on data governance, providing insights on taxonomy refinements.
• Document data issues and work with technology teams to resolve systemic problems.

Business Intelligence & Stakeholder Support

• Partner with HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, and business leaders to provide skills analytics.
• Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
• Support Skills Advisory Boards with data on skills trends, market benchmarking, and internal capabilities.
• Create supplementary Excel-based reports and visualizations that complement dashboard insights.
• Present findings to leadership, highlighting key insights, risks, and opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in data analysis, preferably in HR Analytics, People Analytics, or business intelligence roles.
• Strong SQL proficiency for querying relational databases, joining multiple data sources, and creating complex queries.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, complex formulas, and data modeling.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI) for understanding dashboards and providing requirements.
• Experience working with HR data structures (org hierarchies, job codes, employee records, skills data).
• Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable insights.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality, accuracy, and integrity.
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to quickly learn complex domain knowledge (skills taxonomies, competency frameworks, job architectures) and apply it to analytical work.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Economics, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ServiceNow platform (any module) and understanding of ServiceNow data structures.
• Familiarity with Workday HCM reporting, data structures, and calculated fields.
• Knowledge of skills taxonomies, competency frameworks, or job architectures.
• Exposure to skills intelligence platforms (TechWolf, Eightfold, Gloat, Fuel50, ServiceNow Talent Development).
• Python or R programming for data analysis and automation.
• Understanding of statistical analysis methods and their application to workforce data.
• Background working in fast-paced, high-growth tech companies.
• Experience with data governance concepts and best practices.
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) as applied to employee data.

Technical Skills

• Required: SQL, Advanced Excel, Tableau or PowerBI
• Preferred: Python/R, ServiceNow platform, Workday reporting, statistical analysis tools
