JOB PURPOSE
The Skilled Trades Assistant provides coordinated administrative, student-support, and communications assistance to Skilled Trades programs. The role focuses on supporting student employability initiatives, maintaining accurate program and employment-related data, and assisting with program promotion, events, and recruitment activities.
The Assistant is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff, students, stakeholders, and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Student Employability and Placement Support 30%
Provides direct support to students with employability preparation, including resume and cover letter review, and job‑search guidance
Coordinates and posts work placement and apprenticeship opportunities; tracks student applications and placement outcomes
Maintains accurate records related to student work placement application activities
Other related duties, as required.
General Administration, Data Tracking, and Reporting Support 30%
Maintains and updates program databases, trackers, spreadsheets, and electronic filing systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and accessibility
Gathers, compiles, and organizes data and documentation required for Ministry reporting, program surveys, and internal reporting
Supports office administration functions including tracking requests, coordinating supplies, managing records, and ensuring deadlines are met
Other related duties, as required.
Communications, Events, and Program Promotion 20%
Assists with planning, coordinating, and delivering career fairs, information sessions, workshops, orientations, and community outreach activities
Updates and maintains presentation and program promotional materials to support recruitment and increase program awareness
Supports communication initiatives related to program intake cycles, events, and student success stories
Ensures materials align with branding and accessibility standards
Other related duties, as required.
Frontline Services and Support 10%
Provides frontline service support to students, employers, staff, and community partners, responding to inquiries and directing requests appropriately
Other related duties, as required.
Institutional/ Program Engagement & Administration 10%
Supporting funding applications and gathering required documentation
Promoting a respectful, collaborative, and culturally supportive learning environment consistent with SNP values
Other related duties, as required.
EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE
Completion of post-secondary college or university of one to two years in Office Administration, Business Administration, Communications, Education, or a related field.
EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / CULTURE AND LANGUAGE EXPERTISE
Up to and including 1 year of experience providing administrative and/or student support in an educational, training, or workforce development environment.
Criminal Record Check
The successful candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Background Check – Vulnerable Sector Screening that is satisfactory to Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) prior to the first day of work at Six Nations Polytechnic, and an Offence Declaration that is satisfactory to SNP by their first day of employment at Six Nations Polytechnic.

SCHEDULE: 37.5hrs Monday-Friday.
WORK MODEL: On-site
PAY BAND: 2; Core range $ $40,540.79–$ $47,500.00The target hiring salary for this position is minimum (Step 1) up to 45% of the pay band. Considerations for new hire step placements include experiential knowledge and/or language and cultural expertise.
