Summary:

The Skilled Laborer Civil is responsible for performing construction maintenance tasks of a skilled nature: finishing concrete, laying bricks and blocks, and operating vehicles and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform skilled and semi-skilled manual labor on civil construction projects,

Assist with roadway, utility, drainage, excavation, grading, and concrete operations,

Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment safely and efficiently,

Support heavy equipment operators and skilled trades as directed,

Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment,

Set up, maintain, and break down work zones and traffic control devices as required,

Perform basic concrete work including forming, pouring, and finishing support,

Follow project plans, specifications, and supervisor instructions,

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite,

Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations,

May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and           weekends,

Additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required,

Must have 2+years of experience working in heavy highway construction,

Complete understanding of OSHA and company safety requirements,

Ability to measure accurately and read specifications,

Clean driving record is a plus,

Good communication skills,

Knowledge of the materials and equipment used in general street maintenance and construction work,

Knowledge of the methods and practices of pouring and finishing concrete,

OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 preferred,

Flagger License desired,

Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening. 

Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds continuously throughout the workday,

Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, and twist, throughout the workday,

This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces,

This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time and the constant use of hands and arms,

This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (e.g., glasses, contact lenses),

Performing strenuous work for extended periods in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, and other inclement weather conditions,

Work may be performed in environments with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and moving equipment.
